Oatmeal? Why, I'd LoveSome!
I'll preface this by saying I like oatmeal. We rarely had it as kids because Mom DID NOT like it. She said it was a texture thing. We should have had it more often. Cheap and filling!Anyhow, being old and fat, the ol' cholesterol is creeping up on me and I figured I'd better start eating more oatmeal, as opposed to making it the occasional treat. The last several months I've been eating a lot more and have been looking for deals on it. I saw the Love Some Old Fashioned Rolled Oats on Amazon, and since it was comparably priced to the Quaker at the time, I bought a canister of it (the large, 42-ounce size). If it sucked, I could always put it out with some bird seed, right? Squirrels will eat just about anything I put out there.(Like it even better when it's cheaper than Quaker. I bought TWO canisters last time!)It didn't suck. I liked it very much. Large grains that cook up creamy and thick and have that yummy oatmealy smell. Delicious with some butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Warms you up, fills you up, and sticks to your ribs, so it stays with you for a while. It has a good texture, too. Just enough of a firmness or "bite" to the grains to let you know you're eating something. I would call it a comfort food that happens to be good for you.Instead of messing with a bowl or two every day because I'm lazy, and I prefer to cook it on the stove rather than microwave it for the first cook, I make a large batch ahead of time, eat some, and store the rest in the refrigerator. I use 6 cups of water, 3/4 teaspoon of salt, 3 cups of oats, 1 teaspoon of butter and 1 teaspoon of olive oil. Yeah, I know using olive oil might seem a bit weird, but I add it where I can. Sometimes I'll use coconut oil instead of butter, but otherwise I make it plain so I can change up the toppings or add a bit to a more savory dish (believe it or not).I'll bring the water to a boil, lower the heat to a simmer, stir frequently, and cook for about 5 minutes or so.Made ahead, I can have a bowl whenever I want just by adding a bit of water and THEN microwaving it and adding whatever toppings I feel like using at that time. Too easy.Makes an excellent midnight snack! Grab a bowl, heat it up, and dump in one of those little cups of your favorite yogurt. Almost like pudding.Stir in some Nutella! (Yeah, that's SO good for you. GOOD FOR YOUR SOUL!) Very like pudding.Try some oatmeal with tahini and honey. Want to keep it vegan? Use maple syrup instead. (If you can afford real maple syrup. That stuff is priced like gold!)Want to add even more fiber? Back in the day, folks used to go on and on about wheat germ. Now-a-days, wheat being not so cool anymore, it's flax seed meal. Give it a try. When I make a loaf of "multi-grain" bread in the bread machine, it is still mostly regular wheat flour. When the recipe calls for a bit of whole wheat or some multi-grain blend, I'll use rolled oats instead. You know how you take that can of Chunky soup and add more stuff to it to make it chunkier? Like rice or noodles or whatever? I'll throw in some of that precooked oatmeal, and maybe some precooked rice, and have at it.Want some oat flour to use? Just grind up some uncooked (dry) oatmeal in your blender or food processor.About the only thing I don't like oatmeal in is meatloaf. I substituted oatmeal for bread crumbs in a recipe and none of us were thrilled. To say the least. Quick cooking oats would be better for that application anyway. Maybe half oats and half bread crumbs. I'll have to try it again.Want your oatmeal to smell and taste like donuts? Fix up your bowl-full with the sweetener you like—plain ol' white sugar works well for this one—then add just the least pinch of ground Mace (a little goes a long way), then stir, stir, and stir it in. Let the hot oatmeal work its magic and warm up the spice. Close your eyes and take a big sniff after a minute or two.Ground Mace has nothing to do with the mace you spray at the bad guys. It can be found with the other spices. Hopefully. If you can't find ground Mace, try just a bit bigger pinch of ground nutmeg.Dying for some pumpkin spice? Use the premixed pumpkin spice or pumpkin pie blend of spices in place of cinnamon. So yeah, I really like the Love Some brand of Old Fashioned Rolled Oats and can certainly recommend it to others. I like it even better when it's cheaper than that famous national brand or even cheaper (and better quality) than the local store brand. But you have to keep an eye on the price as it will change. (I won't mention any names, but SOME big retailer is sneaky like that.)Buy you some oatmeal!

Great Tasting, Healthy and Economical
I bought this oatmeal for the price hoping it would work in my soymilk maker.. it did! (You can use a blender) It makes delicious oat milk at a fraction of the cost of store bought oat milk and the oat fiber left has been a great tasting addition to breads and veggie burgers. It also makes a great tasting bowl of oatmeal.

Price change, insects
UPDATED: Found some sort of caterpillar inside sealed one. Considering I bought 10 of these not a big deal, but be careful. ALSO! When I was buying it in April 2019 it costed 3$ per box (0.07/ounce), cheapest one you could buy back then. I guess they boosted this product with 30+ positive reviews at 3$ per box only to sell it at almost 2x original price later. Buy at your discretion. P.S. didn't want to include gross insect photos, you can take my word for it. Again buy at your discretion.ORIGINAL: It is just the best oatmeal you can get. Please restock, we need more of this goodness.

Just like grandma's!
Got back into oatmeal at the ripe old age of 52 for my health. This oatmeal reminds me of grandma's oatmeal I had with her on sleepovers, I even know how to make it just like she did. This has the texture and taste of old school and I like mine with butter, brown sugar with a little cream. Perfect for a cold morning.

The best
I love this oatmeal. I'll keep buying. It's very creamy when cooked. I did increase one serving water to 1 1/4 cup and 1/2 cup oats. I like it when the oats make a creamy substance. I top with cinnamon and brown sugar. I don't add milk.
