My cat likes to eat string. what type of string is it and can it be chewed off?

My Nebelung mix is an infamous string-chewer to the point where I can’t leave him unsupervised with cat wands. He managed to chew through the string within 10 minutes of playtime. I’m hoping the vendor offers replacement strings, seeing as I paid roughly $50 and my cats love it. And I’m lucky my fur boy only chewed the bottom and it’s still functional. Just keep a close eye on your cat during playtime and intervene if they start chewing—both for the toy’s sake and theirs.

I have lever door handles rather than knobs and was wondering if it would attach properly?

I am not quite sure what you mean by lever handles. My door has handles that are like little horizontal bars, so you pull down on the bar rather than turn like a knob. The toy attached just fine to them.

Reviews on another site said it's not safe enough to use without supervision--concern over chewing off/swallowing the string. What do you think?

If your cat is prone to chewing string like mine is, there is no way you could leave them alone with this toy. If given the opportunity, mine would chew off the string in no time flat and then swallow it. My cat never had the opportunity because the toy would not keep running, another reason why you have to supervise. Every time it stopped which was just a few seconds, I had to open the battery compartment and close it to start it up again. The on/off switch wouldn't restart it. Cats loved it while it ran, but I sent it back because it wouldn't keep running.

Yes, it does. I thought mine died tonight after 2 months but it turned out my batteries were bad..phew. It's a good thing because my cats love this and lay next to it waiting for me to turn it on
