Heroic tantric journey
This is a good book not excellent ,it traces life and experiences of protagonist vimlananda and his spiritual journey the beautiful thing about it is that along with the story proper explanation of the knowledge also given, for the newbees in spirituality this contains unimaginable amazing things ,but who are already tantrics (in true sense) and those who knew about tantra would not be much amazed, but overall its a good mix of philosophy story and theory,an its best among the series as i read all three of them , i bought it because of hype it generated but have not found to be ultra enlightening as amateur readers have suggested, though its excellent for spiritual seekers and people intersted in spiritual mysticism of india, though at many places i found that vimalananda has not been able to risen above his psychology and projected his theory as right only which cant be the case as spirituality is wast and there are many methods, saying that other methods are tough or not for kaliyug only proves over emphasis on your diety and obsession of your own genertaed theories as many times the writer himself seemed not thoroughly convinced, vimalananda,s extreme emphasis on rinanubandhan has overtly streched unproptionately over three books, and many other facets he also seem like contradicting or not explaining things carefully may be to let his diety got impressed theres a smell of egoism in all three books which vimlananda himself accepted though indirectly, some sentences seem like absurd and insolent towards particular diety whos not vimlanandas most favourites, but anyhow its a good book whith a very nice flow though its has only one aspect the life of vimalananda ,but the concepts are explained intelligently and journey it takes you on is really amazing as the time when i just got the book from amazon and just wanted to oversee it before reading thoroughly ,it mesmerized me from the first word and i spent noon evening and night reading the book it is certainly that interesting as you ,ll know the amazing beautiful horrific magical and very myterious world of tantra, though through eyes and limited perception of the protagonist which is quite authentic some times ,definately very good book must read for spiritual seekers

One of the best books for everything related to true Spirituality
This book blew my mind. The concepts in the words of Vimalananda are pure bliss. It won't be excess to say that if one understand the point of this book, one won't be needing a lot of other books at all. This book suffices in a major part of the spirituality as whole. The real spirituality and not what is called what and all the bookish part!!

Aghora - Book Review
This book is not meant for all spiritual seekers, only those who have basic knowledge of Aghora should try to explore this book. A few years before, I came across one documentary which was shown on National Geographic Channel, it was about Kumbh Mela and Aghoris. There the anchor of that show tried to shoot one Akhori and his way of life. In that show, Aghori did one trick which amazed the westerner anchor and the viewers of that show. That anchor asked Aghori to show him some trick. He tied 5 red bricks worth approx 20 kg on his testes and he walked like it was nothing. That Aghori was a skinny man with much less than 150 pounds of weight. After seeing that show I’m pretty sure these Aghori people are not ordinary men they are people with some mystic powers. I now know pretty much about the Aghori people and the things they are capable of. So after reading this book I felt not much wonder or surprise. If one reads this book with less knowledge of Aghori even if he/she is a spiritual person will think the content is a bunch of lies of some spiritual man. But actually, it is not, that's why I’m repeatedly saying do not read if you do not know who Aghori is. Coming back about the book, Robert E Svoboda, the author, is more specific about the content in every chapter. The way of writing and his English is pretty amazing. We will get an in-depth knowledge of the beliefs and how Aghora Sadhanas different from normal Sadhanas which are practiced by the spiritual leaders that we know. As the book name suggests, ‘at the left hand of God’, that is the Aghori way. Normally spiritual leaders say about positive energy and peace. But Akhoras are just opposite to that, it is not the ‘Right hand’ way, it is the ‘Left hand’ path to spirituality. But the teachings are all the same. It is all about the ultimate god who owns this world, the creator. But the approach is different. From this book, we will get a clear understanding of who Aghoris are. They are not only spiritual gurus, they are god, the proper manifestation of Lord Shiva. This book is not a biography, it is an experience of a spiritual god, Vimalananda. He says Live Life to the Fullest, without any Fear. The word Aghora/Aghori itself is ‘non-terrifying’

Best Books of All Time, The Aghora Series
This new edition has few changes made by the author when compared to the first edition. All you will miss is one chapter dedicated to Spirits, if you need to read this one particular chapter, you can find it in the first edition only. However, the rest of the content in this new edition is similar to the first edition. If one is looking to find out the richness of spirituality in India, please read this series. The Aghori Vimalananda is so kind to us, in sharing his experience via this book series. I love him so much. Thanks to Mother Goddess Tara for this wonderful real knowledge via The Aghori Vimalananda. You all will love this series, give it a try and find out for yourselves.

Must read to know deeper aspects of spirituality !!!
This book gives information on deeper aspects of spirituality. Also, it is written in a first-person format of aghori vimalananda. The experiences shared by the Aghori vimalananda is truly amazing and also the teachings of his experiences expose us to deeper aspects of spirituality and life. Also he shares less-known facts about spirituality, spirits, and aghori sadhanas. Must read for serious spiritual seekers !!!

For serious seekers only
I would not recommended for those who are casually curious about Tantra and aghor .. the experiences shared in this book are of great help for those who are seeking spiritual path. This will break all your notions and yet give you a clear direction of your spiritual journey.

Amazing Piece of Art
This book is a treasure of knowledge. Everything you need to know is in this trilogy. To read this book is a process of life-transformation. I am not even joking. It is not for the faint hearted. This book is love or hate. If you are a serious sadhaka, then don't think twice and buy this book now. Even, if you have nothing to do with aghora or tantra. If you are westerner like me,then many things are going to shock you or make you feel disgust and shame. But there is a purpose behind everything. This is my second read of the book and I find many gems and new understandings of the hidden meanings and truths. I love Vimalananda's journey and determination to find the truth. I truly respect the people who follow that path, with that new understanding. Jai Mahakal!

This isn’t a beach read but an essential guide to understanding the depths of spirit.
Aghora: At the Left Hand of God is not a casual spiritual read. It’s a deep, intense, and often unsettling exploration of the Aghori path—an unconventional and rarely understood stream of Indian Tantra. Written by Dr. Robert Svoboda based on his time with his guru, the Aghori Vimalananda, this book challenges Western perceptions of spirituality and forces the reader to confront shadow, paradox, and the limits of rationality. Key Concepts: 1. The Aghori Path – Aghoris seek liberation (moksha) by embracing everything that society rejects—death, taboo, impurity, ego dissolution. They don’t turn away from the “dark” but use it as a mirror to find truth. 2. Transcending Duality – A central tenet is moving beyond the binaries of good/evil, pure/impure, right/wrong. Aghora is about total acceptance of reality, including its most uncomfortable and hidden aspects. 3. Karma and Consequences – Vimalananda offers unique perspectives on karma—not just as a system of rewards and punishments, but as a complex, living force that can be worked with consciously, sometimes in shocking ways. 4. Power, Discipline, and Detachment – The book explores how real spiritual power requires fierce discipline, emotional detachment, and surrender of the ego—far from the feel-good spirituality that’s often popularized. 5. Gurus and the Sacred Madness – Through stories of Vimalananda, Svoboda conveys the unconventional methods of enlightened beings. The Aghori way is not for the masses—it’s a razor’s edge path walked only by those ready to meet the divine through chaos, fear, and surrender. ⸻ This book isn’t easy to digest, and at times it’s intentionally disorienting. But that’s the point. If you’re looking for a spiritual text that doesn’t shy away from the uncomfortable truths of existence—and one that invites you to reexamine everything you think you know—Aghora Book 1 is a rare and powerful read.
