My pancreas and insulin levels thank Herbion. Previously I relied upon cough suppressants containing sucrose and glucose which have a 600% higher glycemic index than a tbs of sugar which raised my insulin levels causing catastrophic consequences to my overall health and wellbeing.

They are not easy to open.

For health reasons, I eat only sugar free. But I had a frustrating dry cough that had hung around for almost 3 months, getting worse and destroying my sleep. I tried the cough drop brands that use artificial sweeteners and chemical preservatives. They worked, but I needed them all day, every day thanks to the stupid cough. I just couldn't keep ingesting that level of chemicals, so searched again and found these. Finally! Not only do these from Herbion WORK to calm the cough, but they taste nice, are sweetened lightly with stevia, and for preservative use ascorbic acid (Vit c) and citrus acid. My doctors finally listened to me that this lingering cough was getting worse, and discovered it was drug induced, meaning it was caused by one of my prescriptions. They switched me over to another, and slowly the cough is getting better. But in the meantime, these cough drops have been a sanity saver! I got enough sleep by using one right before bedtime, and slept a lot better. Then I'd use them during the day, especially when going out. I mean, when you are hacking during flu season, no one around you believes you when you try to say no, I'm not contagious! They either back away, or places insist you wear a face mask. I can't really blame them, but it was so frustrating. The ONLY suggestion for improvement I have is this. They are all packaged inside the same, no matter the flavor. I bought Orange and also the Honey Lemon. I like them both. But when I took a strip of them out - they are in blister packs - to put into my purse, I can't tell which flavor they are, since they all look alike. No big deal, just suggestion for a minor improvement in packaging. Otherwise, I HIGHLY recommend these. Taste good. Healthy ingredients. And they WORK.

Perhaps it's unfair of me to give only one star to this product. However, when I write a review, I can only rate something by my personal experience, and for me, these cough drops literally made me gag. There are several herbs in these drops, plus stevia. It may be that one or more of these ingredients did not agree with me. Stevia can be tricky. I have no problem with it in some products, in others the taste makes the product inedible, for me, anyway. I'm thinking in this case it wasn't the stevia, because at first the taste seemed acceptable enough. Not something I'd nosh on for pleasure, but for its purpose, it seemed fine. Then the nausea hit. I'm not exaggerating when I say I felt like I was going to vomit. It may well be that I had a bad reaction to one of the herbal ingredients, though I've used herbal products before with no issues and I have no allergies or sensitivities that I know of. Maybe I got a bad batch? Who knows? These cough drops, like many other medicinals and food items sold through Amazon, are nonreturnable. However, I contacted Amazon's customer service and they quickly and with zero hassle refunded my money. Kudos once again to Amazon's generous refund policy. It makes me feel so much more confident when ordering products online. In conclusion, don't be afraid to give these cough drops a try, but do read the ingredients (you can find them on the product page under Supplement Facts). If you like them and they work for you, great. If you find you have a negative reaction like I did, don't just toss them in the garbage and let yourself feel angry that you wasted your money! Contact Amazon Customer Service. They will make it right.
