for a friend
got this for a friend who is a A/C tech. We live in Suriname and these specialty products are very expensive here. So since I can order from the US via a shipping agent in Miami, this item cost us about 30% cheaper than buying it here. Works very good, other techs wanted to borrow it. So that is always a good sign

Solid Clamp meter, Best display ever.
The LCD display is the brightest and easiest to read of any clamp meter I have ever used(fluke, amprobe, uei, fieldpiece). It has a solid housing and is easy to grip and clamp in tight spaces. The LED work light built on the back is really helpful for working in dark areas. I just recently used it to troubleshoot temperature controls in a -10F degree walk-in commercial freezer and it had no problems with the exposure to the extreme cold. The only small negative is that the when testing for continuity on a circuit(which really just checks for <30U resistance) the indicator "beep" sound seems to be delayed by half a second. Even when you deliberately open the circuit the "beep" stays of for a half second lag time. This makes it difficult to identify open-to-short conditions and intermittent relay issues in a circuit. All other test settings are quick and accurate including the resistance and temperature test settings. One final note: it needs to come with a storage case or bag of some type.

major fail
Capacitor tester takes ridiculous amount of time to register 20+ uF caps. I'm talking about up 20 seconds. Ohmmeter kept beeping continuity when ohmming compressor. Ammeter is not accurate at all. Junk. Bought a Fluke 902...high quality there.I have owned approximately 10 multimeters. Milwaukee hvac is the poorest quality I have ever had. This meter makes fieldpiece look high quality.

pros: -voltage detector -heat probe -amp clamp cons: ...
pros:-voltage detector-heat probe-amp clampcons:-does not come with a case, even meters half the price comes with one-flat out lies about the actual price, the sale prices are the price you would pay in the store-nicer if it came in 1000 volt

Faulty on delivery, not once, but twice!
Terrible quality meter, would never order a meter from Milwaukee ever again. The meter arrived faulty on delivery, and took phantom readings with no leads even attached to the meter. Another meter arrived to replace it and that one was faulty as well. There must be no quality control at all for Milwaukee's Multi Meter department because this is a joke. When you move the meter you can hear and feel springs within the meter vibrating. The metal within the closing of the meter clamp was oxidized and chipped on delivery, and I could go on with a whole laundry list of issues.Do not buy this meter!

Save your money
I thought the Milwaukee name would save me from getting a toy meter. But that's what it is. If you need a real tool save your money for a Fluke. It works but it's very slow and feels like a fake tool.
