Fish! Bass Lake - Fishing Board Game

This game is amazing and super fun! It feels like it came straight out of the late 80's/ early 90's but with modern production values and extra flair of today's board games. It reminds me of playing boards games at the cabin in summer and playing NES games like the Black Bass and Blue Marlin. Now I can get those same nostalgic feelings but at home with friends and family (all of which have a great time playing this game).Pros: -Cards are very well done with fantastic realistic artwork of the numerous fish species to the fun retro 80s feel of the cartoon cards depicting various events that may occur during the game. - The mini-games that occur occasionally are actually super fun and keep everyone engaged with smooth pacing. - The game-play is super customizable as in you can set up winning conditions like (only largemouth bass tournament, Largest fish tournament, Musky tournament, total fish weight tournament, panfish only etc.) - There is a very light RPG feel to the game as you start our with very limited equipment but slowly build up your abilities to land bigger fish. -Fun and re-playable! (numerous requests to play this game instead of other more popular games I own!)Cons: - The rules state to reveal fish cards and also display your fish that you caught face up in front of you. We house rule that they are face down and only shown to someone that was in the same part of the lake as you that saw you catch it. This makes for a slightly deeper game that involves bluffing (telling classic exaggerated BIG fish stories) or if you don't land a big fish, you (and possibly someone else if they were in the same spot of the lake) know that a big one was there and you can keep fishing that location, keeping the others in suspense as to why.Another reason this house rule is awesome is because it keeps the game intense and you really feel the pressure of needing to catch just one more big fish before somebody goes to weigh in which triggers and end game sequence.That is the only con and for a game with so much customizability, it basically a non-issue because the game is just so fun! I hope this company makes another fishing game or just another game period because it is really a great time!

THIS GAME IS AWESOME!!! We have throughly enjoyed it every time we play it! As a family, we have always enjoyed fishing. My sons even fish competitively as well as recreationally on a daily basis. When it is raining or dark out, they usually still have the "fishing bug", so they get this game out. They laugh and "hoot and holler" the whole time! I love to see my teenage boys doing something different than XBOX gaming, on their phones, or watching T.V., etc.. This is one of the very few games that can get them to play a game together because they always know they will have so much fun. They also work out their competitiveness on the game board..... therefore it helps to bring it with us on all our travels too. There is not a slow or boring moment the whole time.....it is just the right speed, anticipation, and activity. I can not say the same about other fishing games we have tried/played.Another aspect that we love about this game is that all ages can play together and have a joyful time. My father has sever physical disabilities and he also can not speak or read. He was an avid fisherman his whole life before he became disabled (probably why our whole family loves fishing today). Those days of fishing are over for him now, but he loves to play this game because he feels like he is fishing again. I think it also triggers his mind to remember some of his past fishing experiences too. He cheers with his hands and laughs when he STILL beats us all by catching the big one! It has pulled us all together....multiple generation....to the table to interact and play because we all love it! This game is so well done!! It is very humorous and real to fishing life in every way.I have bought multiples of these games now to give as Christmas gifts for our friends and other family members. I know this will become a tradition in our family for many years and generations to come.I can not think of any negatives. I have tried, but not succeeded.THANK YOU, Lakehouse games, for producing such a wonderful game! It is truly the best fishing game on the market BY FAR!! It is a great price too..... I would have paid more since it has become priceless to our family.

Highly recommend this game. At family Christmas (the extended family always celebrates the week before) this game was an absolute hit. We had 2 people in each boat, and everyone tried to figure out the best strategy to win together. It's also pretty unique in the way that the game really knocks it out of the park with the theme. One of my cousins even took a picture of the box with her phone, so that she could get the game for her kids. Kudos.

I love to fish and so does my family and we are big board game fans, but there are not many fishing games out there, let alone good ones. This one is easy to learn and a fun way to spend an afternoon.
