As an IT professional I can highly recommend these SSDs, they work well and offer excellent value for money with decent speeds for Gaming and any other required tasks.Yes, this wont be as fast as a top end Samsung SSD but in all honesty you wont ever need it unless specific applications/programs need very high intensity read operations.Cheap, Simple and Easy to use - Only main note is the size 480GB is enough for your OS and a couple of games... nowadays 2TB + SSDs are the norm.

A typical Crucial product, excellently made, performance is very acceptable for the price and looks good even if you only see it for a short while. Recommended for most laptops which can be checked on their website, clone down load excellent also and most people could fit this depending on you particular laptop. This is an effective and cost efficient way to speedup an older PC saving the need to buy new, even if you buy new at a lowish price the chances are good you getting older technologies anyway especially under the 300 pounds for a laptop. Be warned do not use windows defragmentation to tidy up the disc allocation, it will screw up an SSD. Also partions as on a platter mechanical drive do not mean anything on an ssd there just a section of allocated memory like a folder. It seems that some people get less than the stated storage volume, this depends on the system section of memory when the ssd is initiated, some made up from file block data and system catalogue depending on the way the ssd was cloned from the source disc, also manufacturers ssd size which can be stated as a 1000 mb for a gigabyte when actual is 1024 mb, on top of that ssd makers set aside extra room for dead cells and for binary vs. decimal difference, it is therefore not uncommon to buy a 500 gb ssd and end up with around 465 gb usable and a 480 gb would have 447 gb usable especially if you PC had its own recovery system installed which will be cloned but not compatible with your new ssd.

Replaced hard drive of a 6 years old windows laptop with this hard drive. It was very easy to replace it, less than 5 min with the help of a youtube vid. The result is amazing, didn’t expect such transformation, it boots in few seconds. Before, the laptop would struggle to run Microsoft offices or edit pdf files, but now all applications launch quickly and run very smoothly. Annoying frequent Windows 10 updates are done fast too. Too early to comment on the longevity of the hard drive on the long run but it has 5 years warranty so as long as important files are backed up, then it should be fine.

Good product at reasonable price

Installed into a HP Elitebook 725.Easy to install - but that is more dependent on the machine you're putting it into. For someone who isn't sure what they're doing, I would recommend extensive research into the process.Definitely makes the machine fly - this was used to replace an SSHD, which was good anyway. The capacity is decent for a compromise between cost and need.My only mark down is for the gaming, as I can't honestly say as it isn't to be used as such.

Waited some time to upgrade to SSD, mainly due to their past reliability issues. Took the plunge on this one and the speed increase in my 8 Year old Samsung i5 Laptop is fantastic. Running Windows7 Ultimate (64 bit) boot up used to take some 3 minutes before I could start loading programs. Cloned the old drive and this SSD drive takes around 14 seconds to boot to the logon screen, and a further 15 seconds from logging on to accessing all my programs. Fantastic speed boost.Its a 5 Star speed product, currently awarded 4 stars overall because its early days before I can fully evaluate the reliability factor. I’ll update this review in 6 months.Update June 2021Upgraded to 5 stars as its still running fast and no reliability issues to report

SSD drives are so much quicker than old style hard drives that it is like having a new computer once installed. My boot up time has decreased from almost 14 minutes to a little over 1 minute just by using a cloned Crucial hard drive !! Simple to install into my Dell desktop system, simplicity to clone one drive to another using the free Acronis software supplied on a download link. My read/write times now are many times faster than before. Its the kind of difference that fibre optic broadband has over dial-up. My only regret is I did not do it sooner. I have in fact now bought a second SSD to use as a weekly backup drive so I will never again face a loss of data. The supplied Acronis (download) program takes care of that job too ! !

I used this to speed up my dad's aging laptop and it made a huge difference. It's easy to install and makes windows so much more responsive that it is on a HDD. I wouldn't use it on a modern machine as a for an SSD it's pretty slow, but as an upgrade it was fantastic for the price.

Ho avuto modo di testare l'SSD Crucial BX500 480 GB per diverse settimane e devo dire che sono rimasta molto soddisfatta delle sue prestazioni. Innanzitutto, l'installazione è stata molto semplice e veloce. Bastava inserire l'SSD nel case del PC e seguire le istruzioni a schermo per configurarlo.Una volta installato, ho notato subito una differenza sostanziale nella velocità del mio PC. L'SSD ha una velocità di lettura sequenziale fino a 540 MB/s, il che si traduce in un avvio del sistema operativo e delle app molto più veloce rispetto a un disco rigido meccanico. Inoltre, l'SSD è molto più silenzioso e consuma meno energia rispetto a un disco rigido meccanico, il che è un vantaggio sia dal punto di vista del rumore che dal punto di vista dei consumi.Un altro aspetto positivo è la durata dell'SSD. Non ho mai riscontrato problemi di usura o di altro tipo durante l'utilizzo, il che dimostra che si tratta di un prodotto affidabile e di alta qualità. Inoltre, devo dire che l'SSD è stato molto facile da usare. Non ho dovuto fare alcuna configurazione complessa o installare software aggiuntivi, bastava inserirlo nel PC e il sistema operativo lo riconosceva subito.In sintesi, posso affermare con sicurezza che l'SSD Crucial BX500 480 GB è un'ottima scelta per chi cerca velocità e affidabilità a un prezzo ragionevole. Lo consiglio vivamente a chiunque stia cercando un'opzione di archiviazione rapida e affidabile per il proprio PC
