Product Packaging:Standard Packaging Pearl sugar, also known as nib sugar or hail sugar, is used extensively in Northern Europe and Scandinavia in particular for its unique qualities; highly resistant to heat and moisture, pearl sugar will maintain its shape and crunch after baking, even when mixed into batter or dough. Perfect mixed into cookies or waffles, or as a topping for rolls, cakes, or sweet breads, pearl sugar provides excellent texture and sweetness for a variety of baked goods.

Good stuff, too pricey, bag broke a little in transit
This works great and made the best waffles we have ever had. Unfortunately the pricing is ridiculous for what is essentially lumpy sugar. Also the bag does not stand up well to shipping and ours popped a seam in shipment and arrived with a small amount of sugar all over the box. Given the price of this sugar we weren't happy to lose even that small amount in transit. Please package these in better bags or wrap them better for transit.

The best price on pearl sugar
Like most people, we buy this to make Leige waffles, or as my dad always called them, suikerwafels. This is the best price we've been able to find, and yes, you do need a 10 pound box because once you find the right recipe and the right ingredients, you'll never want to stop making them.

It Is The Real Thing!
Great product! The package arrived earlier than expected. The bulk quantity of pearl sugar makes the purchase very affordable. I keep this bag for me and I am ordering a second one to split into multiple, nicely decorated bags as X-Mas stocking stuffers. This type of sugar is exactly what you could buy in any European store to make waffles. I highly recommend this product for its superior quality and affordability.

Must Have for Real Belgian Waffles
I had been looking for this sugar everywhere, but it is next to impossible to find in stores near me, even specialty stores. I finally decided to look on Amazon and was very pleased to see it available. I was skeptical at first because I wan't sure if I was buying the right type of sugar, but I decided to buy the 10 lb bag anyway since sugar lasts forever, and if anything I wold find different uses for it. When my package arrived I was finally able to attempt making Belgian waffles and they turned out excellent. The sugar caramelized exactly how it was supposed to on the outside of the waffle while remaining soft, crumbly, and warm on the inside. I received many compliments from my family members and friends, and now I regularly make them during family events. Since my recipe only calls for about 1 cup of pearl sugar, I vacuum seal what I don't use and just take it out as needed. This is the secret ingredient for REAL Belgian waffles!

Essential for Liege Waffles!
Definitely the most expensive sugar I have ever purchased, but ever so worth it if you like Liege waffles. This is the recipe I use: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/liege-belgian-waffles-with-pearl-sugar - and ignore the reviews that say they are good even without the pearl sugar. Yes, they are good without the pearl sugar. But having the pearl sugar takes them to a whole new level that you cannot reach without. Enjoy!

Perfect. Just as advertised
Perfect. Just as advertised. This is apparently the only Belgium Pearl Sugar vendor who is NOT trying to screw the Amazon customer. Others are charging unreasonable and rip-off prices. Come on other vendors, it's only beet sugar with a little extra process to make bigger granules of sugar!

Thoughtfully packaged
This arrived well packaged, boxed with 5 2-pound individually sealed bags inside. All inside the shipping box. Perfect to ensure that if the shipping box was damaged the product itself would not pour out or get contaminated. I bought this because it was the best price-per-pound of pearl sugar I could find and I really wanted to start making liege waffles. Works like a charm. And since the 10 pounds are split between several packages I don't have to worry about it going stale.
