Planning to buy this for my electrician son for his bday, any recommendations for accessories that go with it? How many foam inserts would I need?

I wouldn't worry too much about the inserts if I were you - you'd need to have quite specific knowledge of what tools he has and how he intends to use/store them to know what inserts to get. These are great bits of kit - as an electrician too, I have two of these roller kits plus crates and extra boxes. There's still no room for a dustpan and brush though. Electricians don't need them.

Can you fit padlocks to each item

You can, but to be honest this might be the one failing of the system. The holes are moulded into (admittedly heavy-duty) plastic that could easily be cut through. It's also a shame they can't be locked together as a unit. They do latch together robustly, but there's no secure way of stopping each from being unlatched from the others. Overall though, this is easily still the best toolbox storage system currently on the market in my experience.

With the handle pushed down, what height is it from gloor to top of handle?

The Height of the three boxes together is 80Cms the handle fully pushed down is about 70Cms so well below the height of the boxes.Hope this helps.

Big, solid and easy to use

A very sturdy and solid case system from Milwauke! Bigger than I expected but it's fitted everything I need to do my job as an electrician. I ordered an extra case to keep a battery drill in but it's that cavernous I've got the drill, spare battery, charger, drill boxes, holesaws and the lot in there. The bigger case has a handy little tote tray in there. The other smaller cases all have a little snap shut case inside as well as small dividers. The whole thing clips together very easily so you can choose what order you want them stacking in. I'm very impressed by this, it's expensive but looks like it will last for years to come!

A thing of tool storage beauty!!

What can be said, it's a thing of beauty and much bigger than I had pictured in my head. Everything looks solid!! All locks together very well, so we'll I I couldn't pull them apart (never had milwaukee packout and forgot about the latch on front haha). Plenty of room inside each case as well as extra parts bins/storage tote type pieces inside all three, smallest of the three has a few useful ones. We'll worth the money and feel superior build quality to my Stanley fatmax organiser boxes and the dewalt tstak at my work

Top bit of kit!

It’s an amazing tool trolley! I have just transferred all my gear into it today and it is exactly what I have needed for so long. It’s spacious and accommodates everything very well.
