DELUXE EDITION — this beautiful hardcover features gorgeous rose stenciled edges! An Instant New York Times and USA Today Bestseller! From indie darling Harper L. Woods comes THE COVEN, a sexy, deliciously imaginative fantasy romance where The Magicians meets Ninth House with vampires. Revenge. Raised to be my father’s weapon against the Coven that took away his sister and his birthright, I would do anything to protect my younger brother from suffering the same fate. My duty forces me to the secret town of Crystal Hollow and the prestigious Hollow’s Grove University—where the best and brightest of my kind learn to practice their magic free from human judgment. There are no whispered words here. No condemnation for the blood that flows through my veins. The only animosity I face comes from the beautiful and infuriating Headmaster, Alaric Grayson Thorne, a man who despises me just as much as I loathe him and everything he stands for. But that doesn’t mean secrets don’t threaten to tear the school in two. No one talks about the bloody massacre that forced it to close decades prior, only the opportunity it can afford to those fortunate enough to attend. Because for the first time in fifty years, the Coven will open its wards to the Thirteen. Thirteen promising students destined to change the world. If the ghosts of Hollow’s Grove’s victims don’t kill them first. Review: A fantastic story to read - I still can’t believe that I have waited so long to read this book. Actually, I do believe it because I wanted the DUO to get complete before diving into this world firsthand. I have heard a lot of good things about the book when it came out and I wanted to read it immediately but I try to avoid any cliffhangers if I can and that I did here. Now I am like “WOW” what a story. Harper never ceases to amaze me with her twists in any world she created and this one was quite a TALE. She nailed it with a hidden witch and a Coven with all the questionable things happening and then there are Vessel’s (you have to read to find out what it means) with demons involved in it and mysterious PROPHECY at work. It flows so smoothly once you start reading the book. For a few moments I was SPEECHLESS with the ending the book gave me. I think I was in SHOCK because I didn’t think things will happen the way they happened, like last 4-5 chapters were just FREAKING MIND BLOWING. The story kept me glued to my Kindle the entire day I was reading it and it’s WORTH IT. “Kudos” to the writing, it just melts like butter and leaves a yummy taste when finished. I have a lot of things to say but I would like for you all to read the book and experience the journey yourself. “Willow” is so smart, kind, and lovable and the growth her character shows is so promising. “Gray’s” possessiveness from the start was so HOT and mouth-watering. He was so mysterious and then there is still so much left to unveil in the story and I am excited to dive into book two as fast as I can. Review: it’s a dark witchy read - The book is spicy and it’s a dark witchy read with hidden identity. Willow is a witch trained by her father. Her father wants revenge while she wants to protect those whom she love. The book has dark academia vibe with enemies to lovers trope and morally grey MMC. The chemistry between FMC and MMC seems to be good.

it’s a dark witchy read

OMG.
Im shocked. The ending shocked me. It was quite slow paced in the Beginning but as it went further and answers were answered it became thrilling and exciting. The author said even the villain deserved HEA and i thought how could Gray be the villain. I fell in love with him. But as the story progressed my jaw was literally on the floor! What an expected thing to happen. I was as shocked as Willow. Can't wait for the second book! I don't know how the author will redeem Gray but I'm willing to seee it

I rarely leave reviews for books but this HAD to be done. The cliffhanger literally had me begging for more, i can't wait for the new book. Everything about this book is written with such intricate details, it had me hooked from the start. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

The beginning of fantastical journey
This review is going to be me fan girling. Combining both genres of fantasy and dark characters and giving us a fantastic book on magic, lore and plot twist to delve into, I can proudly say i skipped my sleep reading this and let me tell you it takes a lot for me to skip sleep in this old age. 🤣 Now, this book definitely has witches(duh) but also it has plot and honestly I would read this book even if it had no spicy scenes The middle of the book was plot filler but the last 30% had me gripping and miss Woods, the ending has me screaming. I can't wait for August to come early af so i can get myself drowned in this beautiful world of magic and prophecies

Irrational and too hasty
This book felt very toxic. Like not a single part of this book mentioned a healthy relationship including the main characters. We begin with Gray being asked to restart the school to him trying to recruit Willow to claiming her. Then suddenly she has to seduce. The MMC just barges into her room tears her clothes and it's all ok because she lusts after him. Seriously???? And what was that scene about him changing her clothes without her permission or knowledge. It put me off this character right then and there. And this is in the beginning. There were hardly any side characters and maybe together they may have had 15 dialogues in the whole book. The leads had no chemistry and even the consummation scene seemed forced and not aesthetic at all. I know the cliffhanger is supposed to make us excited but the plot seems done and used before. I give this book 1 star

This series is definitely one of my favourites now!
Omg! I was freaking out the moment I saw the blurb for this book. Like enemies to lovers , fantasy, student teacher , very dark and so much more?! It's like Adelaide created my dream book lmao. This one is the first book of the upcoming series and I can't scream at you guys to read it. Like the author herself said that the hero of this book is very less of a hero and more of a villain and that is absolutely true about Alaric. That man was ughhh 🫠🫠🔥🔥 The ending of this book had me screaming, because what was that?!!! I want the next book like RIGHT NOW 🤣🤣 Definitely recommending this one to all the dark romance loving people out there. If you like genres like fantasy romance, student teacher , taboo , dub con , anti heroes , betrayal, plot twists and so much more , then please read this one!

I’m not really surprised at this point, because whenever I think that Forrest’s/Woods couldn’t be surprising me anymore, they just came through with so much light and darkness. And wow, this book was just it and so much more. Fantasy is one of my favourite genres, especially dark and adult fantasy and this book is absolutely incredible. The themes of control, the scheming, plotting, mystery, magic and romance; literally everything was top notch and has had me hooked since the very beginning. I loved the word building and the writing style. It was simple yet compelling. But more than that I loved the voice of the heroine, their quick wit and sharp mind. However, Woods deserves quite a lot of commotion for the the world that she’s created, intricately which is filled with twisty web of lies, cons, and heists; to create a plot that undoubtedly keeps one guessing until the very end. But that cliffhanger, was lethal. I am in shambles and I can’t wait enough for the next book.

It was not as described
I was waiting for the Special Edition painted edges but I did not receive that..! The book itself cane in good condition, however the price tag was on the front of the book (the paper cover ) and that was a shame as it could not be removed with damaging the picture.

Hooked from the first page!
“You fight. Every moment of every day, you fight. Because that is who you are,” 🌹 Dark Academia 💀 Enemies To Lovers 🌹 Witches & Demons (Vampires) 💀 Dark Fantasy Romance 🌹 Villain Gets The Girl 💀 Professor x Student Overall Enjoyment ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️ World Building 🌎🌎🌎🌎 Romance ♥️♥️♥️ Characters 👤👤👤👤 I have been so excited to read this duology, I absolutely love a good dark academia romance and the magic system in this book was so unique and interesting. The whole world was completely captivating, from Willows family Earth magic, which is so enchanting and beautiful, to the more sinister magics. Our MMC Grey was the perfect villainous, broody character. He is one of those MMC’s you just can’t help but swoon for. His mouth… utter filth. Harper L. Woods just writes such amazing MMC’s, you just know they are going to blow you away everytime. “If you ever touch me, I’ll be sure to think of anyone but you. I won’t be able to enjoy it otherwise,” “Then be sure to scream his name for me. I’d like to know who I need to hunt down the next time I’m hungry,” It is safe to say I absolutely loved Willow! She was strong, sassy and this perfect balance between light and dark that just made her such a complex interesting character. She loves deeply and stands for what she believes in, she doesn’t let Grey get away with anything and gives as good as she gets. Her witty comebacks made this books so enjoyable! “If it is order that you value, then I will bring you nothing but chaos.” Their relationship was exactly what I look for in a book, true enemies to lovers where they hate to love each other. They are pulled together again and again and they fight it each time. It just makes it a million times better when they truly come together. The tension, the banter, the spice. Everything was balanced so well. “Let me love you as you deserve, Witchling.” Excuse me, that ending?!?! It was so gooood but so brutal at the same time! Bring on book two!
