Vanguard VEO 2 Aluminum Monopod with Tri-Stand, Gray (VEO 2 AM-264TR)

I bought this monopod to use primarily to shoot moving objects with a big lens. This holds its own and is a great product for the price.

Photos are misleading. While I really like this monopod. The only complaint I have is that the photos in the listing clearly show the monopod without the feet leading you to believe they are removable, but they are not. One of the reasons that I picked this one is for the option to remove the feet, so that is disappointing. Under the questions section, someone did ask about it and the response was that they were not removable. However, I did not think to ask or review the questions when the photos so clearly show it without the feet.

I like Vanquard and will continue to purchase, however, I found that with all 4 sections extended, it was a little unsteady. The joint between the 3rd and 4th legs would "buckle". Used on one trip and set aside and bought a 3 leg extension model (much more sturdy). My camera / lens is 11 pounds, so that might have been a contributing factor.

The VEO AM-264TR is a monopod with a lot of amazing features. I have the first version without the legs, and I have to say the stability legs give you more bang for your buck. I am able to hold a heavy lens for long periods of time, and stability is increased greatly. I enjoy photographing wildlife, so having something to help handle holding a 70-200 f/2.8 for long periods is nice. The twist style lock on the leg is easy to use and doesn't get snagged on things like the flip style. My only complaint is that if you are trying to use it while moving you will want to put a tripod head of some sort on it. This makes it not quite as rigid, and allows for more movement. This monopod is an excellent addition to the equipment list for any photographer or videographer.

These aren't the most stable stands - they wobble a bit. I had to hold them and balance them before letting go each time (I had Profoto A1's attached so couldn't risk them crashing to the floor). Next time I'll take small sand bags, which kind of offsets the weight savings, but they are good for real estate photos since they have such a low profile.
