Additional Dog Collar For Electronic Dog Fence System

Our yard is fenced in with farm fence but my dogs and the neighbors dogs are able to get at each other. This had resulted in very bad bites more than once. I was not able to let my dogs out unsupervised because 2 of my dogs would go and fight with the neighbor dogs, even though they have been severally injured four times. I was looking at putting in a privacy fence but that was going to cost at least $600. I thought this would be much more economical. We laid it out one day, tested it out and then put the collar on the dogs. It worked immediately. I like that the beep happens before the stimulation. The next day we buried the line and my dog wanted to come by me but when she heard the beep she stopped and would sit down. We have been using the fence about a week and have not had any incidents with the dogs. I'm going to ask the neighbor if they want to buy collars for their dogs because they still come to the fence barking. I only had to put collars on two of the dogs because my other dog does not engage with the neighbor dogs. The one thing I would caution on is the batteries. It was hard to see the + and - on the collar. We put them in the wrong way and thank goodness we were just testing them and didn't put them on the dogs. The collars got really hot and started to smell. They were so hot it burned to take the batteries out. My daughter then looked at the collars and saw the + and -. I still couldn't see it. They should make it easier to see since it is so dangerous if the batteries are incorrect. I'm so glad we bought this. I decided on this one because other reviewers had good customer service experiences. I did not have to use customer service though because this was so easy to install.

This is the third collar I have purchased. I have had the system for approximately four years. I like the product. but it hasn't been a smooth ride. The wire can be placed on top of the ground. It can but you have to be careful. My lawn service used a weed eater and shorted out the system. I ended up having to replace the entire wire around the yard. I have barred most of it this time and haven't had any problems so far. Where the wire may cross a cement area you may need to use some electrical tape to keep the insulation from being scraped off. This winter I found that when the temperature drops around 10 degrees the collars stop working. This is why I ordered the third collar. This collar is really more sensitive than the other two. I could put the collars on the dogs in the morning and open the main door leaving the storm door with the pet access door for their use. Now I know the paper work says take it off the dogs while they are in the house, but I haven't had any problem with that until now. This new collar has scared my dog and she is hiding in the house. My computer is triggering the collar. It was omitting the warning sound and went straight to shock. She will not come near my computer. How I found out what is was doing I picked the collar up and had a hold of the electrical contacts. As I brought it up to my computer it activated. I got shocked! Thank God I thought my dog was getting sick. Now I know it was the collar.

We added a dog and needed to add a collar for our Dogteck Electronic Fence. The first dog is medium sized and the color fits well. This new dog is small (though not as small as a toy) and the color is very big on her. Be careful with the batteries. They seem to work they way loose and no longer make contact. All in all, I'm satisfied that I made the right choice. Oh, and changing the batteries is a hassle. You have to loosen the collar from the back of the battery cover and then work four very small screws which will require a small Phillips style screwdriver.Updated - January 10, 2014 - I bought this item nearly 2 years ago. Both dogs still wear their collars on a regular basis. They're much better about understanding the perimeter of the yard and seldom test it, but sometimes need the reminder, too. I've lowered my original score from four stars to only three because of another design flaw that's become obvious through the years - THE SCREWS COME LOOSE! In my original review, I pointed out how the battery can work itself loose from its contacts, rendering the collar useless. Since then, I've learned the screws will work loose, too. Worse, if you loose a screw, good luck trying to find its replacement. The screws are apparently a very fine threaded 4. I've checked multiple hardware stores in my area, electronic supply stores and the big warehouse style home improvement stores - no one has screws fine enough to fit the thread. The battery cases are now held together using rubber bands.

works very well but the collar tends to die after a year and you have to have dogtek replace it. There are 2 things I do not care for about the collar1st is that the internal beeper to warn the dog is so faint that the dogs do not hear it most of the time especially when they are excited about something on the other side.The 2nd thing that i do not like about the collar is the battery and it's life. The battry is a CR2 and there is no way on earth the battery lasts 6 months like dogtek advertises, beprepaired to replace it every month and CR2 batteries are not cheap.

I am very disappointed in the quality of this product . Be prepared to purchase replacement batteries frequently and for the collar to randomly stop working . When it does work , it works great . I have a very large dog and it stops him in his tracks . It just does not work consistently and the battery dies every other week.
