Product Description Anatomy for Artists: The Human Form Revealed Completely Revised 2nd Ed. This is the only video of its kind produced specifically to address the needs of today s artists and art students. This video takes the art student through the various sections of the body describing the surface forms, underlying bone structure, and how they combine to allow the human form to move. This video surveys the human body highlighting: *muscular and skeletal systems *simple and complex muscle groups *crucial joints and body mechanisms *visible landmarks *proportions *body mechanics Review Anatomy for Artists provides a good general review of human anatomy for students and artists alike. By describing the surface forms and underlying bone structure and how they work together to permit movement, the DVD is useful for teaching sculpture as well as figure drawing. The model featured has very good muscle definition, thereby highlighting muscular and skeletal systems, simple and complex muscle groups, and human proportions. The DVD is short and well organized; the model wears a brief swimsuit to avoid embarrassing or offending young students. This useful tool will aid in art instruction for high school through adult learners. --Library JournalAnatomy for Artists explores the underlying structure of what comprises fi gure drawing. The presentation is not a drawing demonstration per se, but an in depth explanation of the human body, its bones and muscles, and how they contribute to volume and form for drawing the human body. This is a very technical presentation as it explains the various bones and muscle groups and how they interact. The video is divided into chapters about different areas to break the information down, thus making it more accessible, and moves from head to toe including an explanation of the movement and proportions of the body. Muscle groups are noted as the power source of body movement. The human head is used as tradition to measure the various proportions of the body and this technique is carefully explained. The difference between male and female are noted as well. This video would require an attentive audience with a strong art foundation as it is wordy and detailed. The visuals are a combination of live models and examples from historic art sources, which makes for clever comparisons and reinforces the information in a very effective manner. --Arts & Activities

Awesome Video!
Being an art student I usually get books on the subject of anatomy but this time I thought I'd try a DVD and boy I'm glad I did! The program takes you through the various parts of the body from the neck to the feet. The head is handled in a different DVD from the same company. Anatomy for Artists - The Human Head What makes it really easy to follow is that it's broken down into logical sections--neck, shoulder, upper arm and elbow, midsection, pelvis, etc. Then each section is further divided up by bones, muscles, surface forms and landmarks. It goes further by explaining general rules of proportion, male vs. female differences and body mechanics. They use many classical drawings from the masters as well as a real person to demonstrate the theories. This DVD has given me new perspective on anatomy. It runs about an hour and it's jammed packed with tons of easy to follow material. I learned alot from it and I highly recommend it!

Excellent exposition of human muscles
I enjoyed watching this CD and learned the anatomy of the human figure that I have long wanted to understand. The CD is broken into clearly marked sections, so you can stop after the back muscles, for instance, and pick up later with the arm, etc. The live model is a well developed young man, who can define the muscles so that you can really see them. I believe well managed lighting helped with that. I am entirely satisfied with Anatomy for Artists, and recommend it to anyone who wants to improve their drawing and painting abilities.

A very real and useful tool
Anatomy For Artists: The Human Form Revealed is a real and very useful reference tool which I employ frequently in conjunction with actual figure drawing sessions. It highlights exactly what is happening in a particular movement and what muscles are involve. I use this tool to further my knowledge of the human form.

Art books
I thought it would be better but I have already read many anatomy books, if I was a beginner it would be fabulous

Not exactly what I wanted
I thought this would be a more instructive video for drawing anatomy, instead it was more of a here is the anatomy video. I don't think this will be useful to me at all.
