Handmade Baskets

This is a great book! I'm new to basket weaving. This book was recommended to me. And it does not disappoint. There is a basket for all levels of basket weaving to make in this book. It explains the different types of weaving. Has a very good dictionary in the front to explain all of the different words used in Basket weaving. The illustrations in this book are great. They are easy to understand and are step by step. The pictures are black and white but still very beautiful. I have made a couple baskets from this book and they turned out beautiful. So beautiful in fact, that I sold them. I would definitely recommend this to other people. Especially beginner basket weavers

All Lyn Siler books are great. This one includes several baskets and techniques that are not in any of her other books and some baskets that are in most books. However, if this is your first purchase of one of her books, I suggest that you consider The Basket Book or The Ultimate Basket Book.

I will be adding this book to my reference collection.

A pretty good book. Nice patterns with good instructions and photos.

I've not used the book, so I don't know how clear the basketmaking instructions are, but I like the wide variety of baskets in it.

The first thing I would like to say about this book is it is American, it uses American terms and language and American patterns and techniques. There are some of the most beautiful and intricate patterns I have ever seen in basketry in this book, and once you see them you will want to make them. They are not easy, and the materials (rattan,reed,cane) are a little harder to source in the UK, but if you have a passion for beautiful baskets you will find they are worth the effort. A good book worth having even if just to marvel at the artistry and intricacy that the best basket makers can create.

Like the diversity of styles. I ordered it mostly for the Cherokee patterned urn, but will be making many of the patterns in it
