An excellent book but for foundation piecing one has to work out the numbered layout /order for sewing one's self.

Ich habe das Buch am 02. Juli bestellt, am 14. Juli erhalten. Das ist lang.Das Buch selbst ist nur ein Taschenbuch mit Klebeheftung auf billigem Papier. Der rückwärtige Einband hat einen Schnitt am Buchrücken.Die beigelegte CD ist gebrochen, also nicht verwendbar.Dieser Zustand ist für mich nicht gebraucht, GutDas Buch selbst ist auf Englisch, aber schon gut verständlich.in Kapitel 1- 8 werden pro Seite je ein Block gezeigt, darüber steht der Name. keine Anleitung.Die Fotos sind gut, die einzelnen Blöcke sind nicht immer passgenau genäht.Es sind auch nicht immer die typischen Blöcke z.B. für Nine Patch gezeigt, sondern oft Variationen.Zum Durchblättern ganz nett, ob die CD gut ist, kann ich nicht feststellen, da Totalschaden.Für mich sicher keine 25,90 € wert.Wegen der kaputten CD geht es zurück, denn das ist auch keine 10€ wert.Sonst hätte ich es im Zustand gebraucht behalten.

Even though the book says it comes with a cd featuring the templates, these are disappointing. They are basically a repeat of the block or outline but without colour. This I could have done myself. There are no real templates, such as separated pieces with grain lines, etc. Also there aren't any instructions given on how to assemble these blocks. Some are pretty straight forward but some....not so much. The book is basically a collection of photographs of blocks with a few (very few) tidbits added in as to the history of the block when known. Not the best book I've purchase in this vein. The essential sampler quilt book by Lynne Edwards is better, especially for a novice quilter.

Excellent book. Really useful CD.

The positives: This book offers a new angles on traditional blocks. The color choices for the blocks in the book are beautiful and inspiring. It's a terrific book for referring to for designs. The negatives: If you are looking for a pattern book that offers measurements you are out of luck. The book comes with a cd for your computer so you can download the pdf outlines for the 6" blocks, but nothing more. I like the book for the positives it offers, but it is a little frustrating to recognize that with just a little more forethought this could have been an even BETTER book. They could have printed the book so the pictures of the blocks were already 6" so people wouldn't have had to fuss with a cd and printing out the blocks. (Printer cartridge ink: the most expensive liquid on the planet.) Tips:1) many of the design elements are similar and/or are the same measurements so that it's really only necessary to print out about 20 different blocks to get the measurements for the rest. 2)Make SURE when printing out the block outlines from the PDFs that you are printing them out at 100% size.

This is a tremendous book with beautiful and inspring quilt blocks. I love the designs and there is something in it for everyone. There is also a CD. The only criticism I have is that as long as they were producing a CD, they could have made variations of sizes for the quilt blocks. These are all 6 inch, an it would have been nice to be able to size up to 8, 10 or 12 inch blocks.
