Will this fit on a 18 bass drum? I had to return a pedal cuz the beater fits too far up and not on the middle of the head.

If you are using a 18" or 16" bass drum you need to install a bass drum riser. That will put the beater in the center of the drum.

does anyone else have a problem with the hoop clamp not being able to close tightly enough on the bass drum?

I have a back beats set from Ludwig and it doesn’t get quite as close to the bass drum as I would like.
