I've replaced multiple alternators in cars over the years with remanufactured units only to have them fail within a couple of years. I then looked into seeing if there was a way to rebuild them myself and found that yes, this could indeed be done fairly easily. It turns out these brushes tend to be the part that wears out most frequently. In most cases, replacing these and the voltage regulator fixes most alternator issues. I've done this on two different cars with their original alternators and it fixed the issues in both of them. If you can get the alternator off the car, you can replace this part fairly easily, usually with basic tools like a screwdriver or a simple socket wrench. There are plenty of videos for how to do this online. Yes, it's a little work, but I'd much rather avoid paying someone else $500-700 to replace a part that's got one small component worn out, especially when that part is usually far higher quality than a mechanic would put in.

Fits the Denso alternator on a 2017 Suzuki Jimny with an M13A engine.

Easy to replace worn brushes in my Lexus, my old ones were worn almost to the end so this part gave my alternator a new life, bushings and diodes were fine. On Denso alternators like mine you do need to remove it from the car, once removed take aluminum back cover off, the brush pack is easy to replace, take out the two screws that mount but also send power into the brushes, slide off the armature and, while holding the brushes up, slide the new ones on. If the armature is dirty or rough clean with very fine (320) emery paper first.

What I liked is that this part fit my 1986 Toyota pickup alternator. Slightly different but it worked without the plastic shield.

Did what it was supposed to do, arrived ahead of schedule. 5 stars for alternator brushes... if only I was as excited about installing them in my Mini (a 4 hour job), but did this as preventive maintenance while in there anyway, and all worked well.
