Frontier Co-op Organic Garam Masala, 2 Ounce Bottle, Northern Indian Spice Blend, Richly Spicy But Not Hot, Kosher, Non ETO

This has become my secret spice blend. I'm so glad I discovered it. I often cook for a group of people with widely varied taste buds. Garam Masala adds a subtle but definite savory flavor without being too spicy or hot. I use sparingly, maybe a teaspoon or two and grind it up with a the same amount of salt before adding it to very large (6-8? qt.) pans of sauteed veggies. It blends well with onion and garlic. It doesn't really add anything to mushrooms in my opinion but would be very good in the stuffing if you were stuffing them. For that reason I leave the mushrooms out of my veggie medleys because I think that their flavor would just get lost. All the other available veggies and greens are enhanced by this spice blend as long as it isn't overdone. I have overdone it; but adding a quart of Greek yogurt which luckily I had, turned it into a great Veggie Stroganoff. And, oh yes, the spices are very fresh. But because it is mostly a fine grind it will age fast, I get a new bottle through 'subscribe and save' every 6 mos. or so and don't wait til I get down to the very bottom of the bottle. It is also tasty on popcorn so it is not hard to use it up in that time. It would also add interest to almost any sauce including tomato sauces and chilies.

This Garam Masala spice blend has wonderful flavors and it's good quality. I like adding it to Indian inspired dishes or just seasoning meat. It's warm and aromatic, but I think that there's a little too much cinnamon, making it lean on a sweet/fruity flavor side. Due to this, it will also work for sweeter dishes or teas or other beverages. The container is a very nice thick glass, with a screw on metal lid. It just looks wonderful on a spice rack, if you are in for aesthetics. The container comes sealed (and it's delivered in bubble wrap). The sifter isn't my favorite, if I just shake it barely dispenses any product. I need to hit the bottom to get product out to sprinkle. It also has a large whole, that works great if you want to poor in a teaspoon/tablespoon.

Came exactly as described, I use this for a lot of quick mid-week ground beef and rice dinners. Very happy with it and will likely purchase again when I need to refill.

For spices I ALWAYS gravity towards Frontier brand. The quality, smell, and freshness is absurdly good on all their products and the amount you pay is far less than the cost of what you pay in a store. Total satisfied as always with this brand and cost.

This garam masala seasoning is so convenient and easy to use! I was initially hesitant to order this because of the product labeling/design- it didn't appear the most authentic. However, after looking at various garam masala seasoning recipes, I concurred that this was accurate to what is typically being made. I'd rather pay for the convenience of this jar than to compile all of the various seasonings that I do not have on hand at home and in the correct ratio.
