Iron Buddha (Tie Guan Yin) Premium Loose Leaf Oolong Tea - Chiswick Tea Co - 100g

Absolutely lovely tea far nicer than Jasmin tea not so strong and certainly not bitter.

This tea is delicious and similar to the long jing dragon well tea except it has more earthy and mushroomy overtones. It is an excellent choice and supposedly helps weight loss but i havent drank it for long enough to notice that. It proves to be excellent value at 100 g for ten pounds.

There's equally nothing to like or dislike about this tea. I was hoping it would be a bit more perfumey/aromatic, but it's just a bit nothingy for me. Maybe my taste buds are not as finely tuned as others! For reference i bought the tea bags and i have tried brewing a second time to see if that makes a difference as others have said. Ultimately i will be sticking to green teas i have found elsewhere for flavour.

There is so much variation in what is sold as iron buddha tea. This is undoubtedly one of the better ones. Transparent bags that contain thick pieces of the dried tea and that swell considerably when water is added. You could reuse them for a second cup. I avoid the small red-boxed bags that are sold widely and are inferior. The small difference in price to get a good product is outweighed by the large difference in quality. 4 stars rather than 5 only so I leave room to find an even more wonderful harvest. I will continue to buy these unless the price goes up.

Having a Japanese wife, I'm becoming quite an expert on teas. My favorite is Japanese Green Tea, but wife is asking for caffeine free tea and I used to buy Oolong tea from a famous UK brand in tea bags. As we are into loose tea, we tried this Oolong and have to say we are super happy with the product: the flavor is very delicate and the leaves expand so much, so I suggest to don't fill the infuser more than a third as it will expand considerably. Overall we are very satisfied and, even if we are really happy with this particular tea, we will try for sure other blends.

A smooth tea like any green tea type, not better than that, not any speacial effects..

The taste is not amazing. Kinda meaty, but i blend it with a couple of other greens and i love the combo. So alone it gets a low rating but do not be afraid to buy good quality teas and experiment with blending them.

Outstanding value. A great tea, one of my favourites. Can drink it at any time of day. Highly recommended.
