Chinese Sword/Han jian/Carbon Steel Material/Rosewood Scabbard/Full Tang/Alloy Fitted/Length 39"

I rarely write reviews but I feel compelled. This arrived well packed and looks very very nice for the most part.Cons: fittings are colored zinc castings (cheap) and whomever ground off the sprues must have been drunk or in a big damn hurry. It has no fitting for a belt hook or suspension rings to hang it. The brass rivets holding the handle on (I hope they are rivets) were drilled unevenly. The metal throat of the sheath is crudely shaped and the fit of the blade into the handguard is similarly unsophisticatedPros: One, it fits perfectly and tightly into the scabbard with no rattling or falling loose at all. The wood is well finished and attractive, and the hilt is oblong so it indexes in the hand very well. Speaking of which, in the hand this sword is AMAZING. The balance is absolutely on point and while heavy, it is very lively in the hand. The steel is tempered properly, and finely watered with a beautiful grain. There is even a visible shang xue (hamon/temper line) on both edges! It is well polished though you can see some work marks never the handguard) and razor sharp. I repeat, razor sharp. This is a real weapon and truly, the blade is 'China's intangible national treasure' made very, very tangible indeed.Conclusion: for the money, this is an outstanding buy. There are cosmetic flaws and cheap furniture, and, worst case, the handle construction is bad and it breaks on me. However, just for this superior blade alone, the price was more than worth it. I would rebuild the sword if it broke and never feel like I lost a nickel. Buy this if you want an outstanding value for a functional sword you can be proud of.

Over last couple years, I have been purchasing multiple swords. This sword has a very nice balance in hand compare to many other Chinese sword. The handle has a nice touch to my hand, provides great grab. It doesn't turn around when I play with it, easy to identify the direction of the blade. Reasonable weight for practicing, and good length as a sword. Beautiful, gorgeous metal decorations on the ends of the wood. Fine finish. The only problem I hit is the structure is a little lose then I want, where the tang meets the handle part. I can feel it, but it is minor. Overall, as a decoration sword, it is more than perfect. As a practice sword, I think it is good.

Is a decoration. Not sharp at all. No edge whatsoever. Not balenced. Is heavy. Is a wall hanger. Scabbard is nice though. Sword looks nice in the scabbard. Would not have bought if I examined beforehand.
