Works great. Nice little product

This pill crusher works great. It makes grinding pills much easier. Put the pill in, screw the top down, then twist it back and forth a few times if you think you need to. Remove the lid and the pill is ground into a fine powder. Now you can eat it in applesauce or whatever. The lid is easy to screw on even with weak or arthritic hands. Hope this helps.

As far as pill crushers go, this is a great little travel companion. I have several of these. They work well camping. Although if you have extremely hard pills like garlic or other high press pills and are not strong with your hands you might think on this. I have high standards when coming to crushing pills. I put the powder down a feeding tub, and it has to be a fine powder. The more you use this, the better you can get at it. You can crush a pill and then over press it.

The design of this pill crusher is simple and effective. Works just fine for what I need.

Was not that easy to crush

I have two tube-fed kids who use over 30 pills a day each. We have had this kind of pill crusher for over 20 years and I love it. Have never had them break-- I have only had to replace them if they get lost. It will make a fine powder if you first crank it down to break the pills, then loosen it and shake it so the chunks shift, then crank down, then loosen and shake it, 2 or 3 times. It even crushes one pill that I used to need a hammer to pound because it was so hard. I have also used it as a mortar and pestle by putting big pills in the bottom half only (making it the mortar) , then pounding them with a hammer (acting as a pestle) to break the pills small enough to get the lid on to crush them the rest of the way. Big pills like glucoasmine/MSM must be crushed this way. If this does not work for you, then you will not find any better hand grinder--all the rest that I have tried are horrible. If you have weak hands and cannot use this grinder, then buy an electric coffee grinder and use that to crush pills-- but be aware that they don't last very long because they are not meant to do fine dust, and you need a brush to get all of the powder out. Use only a coffee grinder that also says it can do spices because not all brands will do well with pills. The grinders also tend to waste a lot of the pill.

I cannot recommend this product. I bought it because it was inexpensive and had reviews that averaged 4.3 stars. I decided to stop and write this Apex review while I was shopping for a new and different kind of pill crusher on Amazon. I hope I can find one that doesn't rely on hand strength, endurance and flexibility. And preferably one Made In The USA, however, alas, these days American manufactured products are quite hard to find. I have been using the Apex pill crusher twice a day to crush medications for an elderly parent who has trouble swallowing pills. Mixing powdered medications in chocolate pudding has worked well for us - except when bits and pieces of medication crumbs are mixed in that can be felt, tasted and spit out! The Apex has been so hard on my hands that I started using two rubber grippers - to protect my hands from the hard plastic, and to better grip and twist the upper (grinder/crusher) the lower (pill receptacle) halves. But no matter how long I twist and crush, when I open the top, the pills still have small pieces mixed in with the powder. I have to gently shake the powder to get the remaining pieces toward the middle, under the grinding point, then reapply top and twist some more. It takes 2-3 tries before the pills are completely ground into powder. My hands ache all the time these days. When my rubber grippers began wearing out, I started to buy some more grippers. Then I realized how stupid is that?!? A much better solution for me, would be to buy a superior quality product that works differently and requires less physical hand strength. If your hands have arthritis, limited strength, or dry skin - then avoid this product. IMHO, it is better to pay more and buy a superior product - as I have learned the older I get. Also, I've learned to read the good and the bad reviews. What works well for some doesn't necessarily work well for all.

I needed this product to crush over the counter pills into a powder for someone who can't swallow pills. It is so easy to use, and so fast, and crushes them into a fine powder. No power connection needed, so compact and at such a low price! Great product and would recommend to anyone.

Très délicat de mettre son cachet "en poudre" si celui ci s'avère gros (type dafalgan). Déçue de recevoir l'article dans un simple fil plastique sans notice rien (photographie de l'article non conforme). Néanmoins produit utile.

Ya tengo más de 3 meses usándolo y es perfecto. Lo utilizo para dar medicamento a una bebe. Muele las pastillas por completo. Lo único malo fue que tardo bastante en llegar. TIP: para que la pastilla se muela perfectamente, denle vuela y regresen y vuelvan a dar vuelta hasta que quede con la textura que deseen.
