Was not at all happy with this purchase. Not enough pictures and did not like the ones that were in the book. I cannot recommend.

I love the book more for it's pictures than it's written content but that being said the written content is also excellent. It covers everything you ever wanted to know about making and buying sea shells. I would say this is a must have if you are a lover of Valentines made with sea shells. I was helped a lot by all the definitions of different shells when I was looking for shells to buy. I would recommend this book for it's pictures and helpfulness for understanding your sea shells.

first, let me say-this book was written in the 70's so it does NOT have the tons of big, color photos were used to in current craft books. What it DOES have is instructions on making sea shell flowers, shell flower pictures, colleges, shell flower jewelry and mosaics.There are good drawings that explain how to assemble the items, and what shells to use to make each different flower.After buying several newer shell craft books that were more "eye candy" than instructional, I was pleased with this books directions. If you are wanting to make shell flower jewelry- which is now "in" again-or shell flower pictures or sailors valentines-then I recommended this book.4.5 stars!

Didn't have photographs to demonstrate making shell flowers and was using an old method for making the flowers (plastic disk) which older books from the US don't even use.

This is a book that covers a wide range of contents, The story of Sea Shells to New Flowers, New Methods!!A very detailed book, step by step instructions, gives many STATES that our SEA SHELLS are found.It also gives, "A Lovely Story of Sea Shells" that I have never read before.It also covers Montages, Decoupage and many other interesting art designs with the world of sea shells!!Thank you,JuneWassaic NY

It has a lot of detailed explanations on how to make the flowers but it would have beeneasier to understand if pictures were also shown. Probably for someone who had some previous experience not a beginner.
