Essential Fashion Illustration: Digital: Includes CD-ROM AI/JPEG/PSD

I am a graphic designer who hates photoshop (what sense does that make?) so i lean more on illustrator for my illustrations. i bought this book to help me figure out the best way to scan and manipulate my fashion illustrations. i think the book is helpful. there are several tips i've picked up and put into practice. i haven't tried anything on the cd. seems like a helpful tool in your fashion illustrator arsenal...especially for beginners.

It was okay. Somehow I got the hand drawn version instead of the digital. I'll probably pick up the digital soon because they really are different books. I used this for research when helping a friend with her senior fashion show. It was pretty fun and the book was helpful enough to get me the inspiration for what I needed to do. That said, the digital version actually has AI/PSD files to go through-- really neat.

As a current fashion student looking for practical instruction in making the transition from traditional sketches to digital presentations of sketches, this book I reference more than any in my library at the moment. I've taken multiple classes in illustrator and photoshop, watched online tutorials, but very little of the material available is pertinent to the specifics of fashion design. Applying patterns/textiles, clean-up of images, this is a VERY practical book with step-by-step exercises and explanations for both how to attack these tasks in both photoshop and illustrator.Frankly, I brought this book to the instructors at my fashion school and requested that it be considered for inclusion in future courses. I was almost angry that it hadn't been considered an excellent reference and provided to me before I spent a LOT of time and money looking elsewhere.In my opinion, most of the "digital fashion design" books are totally bereft of practical information and tutorials. This book is an excellent one, and deserves a more receptive reaction from the fashion community.
