Profound, thoughtful, and thought provoking.
This book is written and argued very well. Leanne Payne starts with the people of God's greatest distinctive i.e. His presence among His people, as especially seen in their union to Christ, and unfolds the massive benefits He makes available to them through His presence among them. She sets forward God's goodness in Christ and the necessity of seeing Christ's life-giving presence realized in and for us. Leanne Payne sets these insights out by drawing on scripture, church history, and her own personal growth in experiencing and drawing on the presence of Christ for life and ministry. The chapters on Jungian psychology and imagery are excellent but dense. These chapters were the slowest going but, I believe they are very important for those involved in counseling and prayer ministry and have much value for any believer seriously determined to set their faith on a solid foundation.

Leanne is way out there ahead of all the inner healing ministries and methodologies. She writes with academic insight as does C.S Lewis. She carries on from where Agnes Sanford left off. Her strength is in alignment of her rational faculties with her intuitive faculty. So the result is a highly charged spirituality as she speaks from a place of Being, fully. She understands the import of looking upward and outward to our transcendent God and being ingodded as we are filled with His Spirit as we abide in Him. For a faithfilled experience and renewal she's without parallel, and an author still living and writing, and totally relevant for today's world. Even though this book was written a few years ago, the relevance is perspicacious. She's also the best author I've read on her analysis of C.S.Lewis. Also the best analysis on Carl Jung. Nothing misses her depth of discernment. The sequel to this book is Restoring the Christian Soul, and also a must read.

This is an absolutely great book. I found this book to be very informative on the subject matter of bringing inner healing to those who have ungodly beliefs about themselves. Leanne Payne is an absolute treasure!-Michael Norton A Field Guide to Spiritual Warfare:power to PULL the IMPOSSIBLE

The Healing Presence; Curing the Soul Through Union with Christ
Leanne Payne does a superb job of describing how a closer relationship with Christ can heal us. She brings what the New Testament say about Jesus' ministry on earth of healing and deliverance to the here and now. By using her own experience to show how God healed her and how He heals others she has worked with. This book is invaluable to any Christain or non-Christian who really wants to know the key to how people can be healed.

Good stuff in here!!!
I haven't finished this book and I'm reading it slowly to really absorb all the good insights! There's some excellent stuff in here. Some things I see differently but I'm getting out of it what is good for me right now. It's a good read!

An All Time Favorite of Mine
This book resonates in my soul EVERY time i read it!! I am going through it again..reading in small chunks to digest it. It is truth, and it is practical and encourages one to realize that, if we treasure Jesus in our heart, we can invite His presence into a situation of ministering to someone in pain and hurt and have Him change their lives! Sometime down the road I am going to read this book with a friend of mine who lives in another state. We talk on the phone on Monday a.m.'s and discuss our current book. This will be "meat" for us, but I cannot over-praise it as a book of truth for those especially whom God has called to the healing ministry or have the gift of mercy.

Gold
I have never written a review on amazon, but wanted to for this book. It is packed with truth. I often only have time to read a couple pages at a time and walk away chewing and I keep chewing all day because it is so rich.

Powerful and important. A simplified version would make it accessible to the ordinary reader.
Once in a while I read a book that not I not only think is very good but that is also very important. Meaning I would very much urge others, particularly those in ministry, to read it. The need for healing is real – we all need it. Healing of wounds from our past, healing from addictions, healing of anything that oppresses us, diminishes us or separates us from the pure light of Jesus Christ. So many times I found myself thinking – “She couldn’t have written that unless she was living the healing presence herself”. That’s why I find her writing authoritative. Not just because of her academic background and years of hands-on experience. She doesn’t mince words. We’re on a battlefield here and we have to bring the presence of the Spirit to bear on everything that we as individuals and the world itself have fallen to.So sad to learn on the internet this morning that Leanne Payne died last year, 2015. I wanted to get in touch with her to thank her for teaching me through her book. I also wanted to ask her if I could do a project. It’s this – I would love to try to make this book accessible to the ordinary reader. It’s very academic and not being an academic myself, it took me over a year to read it during whatever free time I could put aside e very week. I had to make notes and use the dictionary. It was well worth it and I now will to go back to the start again and do a second reading, this time to try to make a summary of how I can put what I’ve learned into action in my own life and in counselling others.I see that the last review of this book was nearly 10 years ago, which means I have to face it – this review may never be seen by anyone! No matter - in case you, my reader, are the publisher or someone who has rights to the book, perhaps you could contact me through Amazon to tell me whether I could be allowed (if no one has already done it) to make a simplified version of the book for the ordinary reader? It’s ministry – no commercial interest.

I rarely write reviews but this book is exceptional. If you want to draw near to Jesus this book is for you. It is beautiful and filled with truth.I love the writings of leanne paine. Its not a book to read quickly. I found I needed to ponder her paragraphs to absorb the truth within.
