works great, but make sure you start straight. Once the bit takes hold you are going in that direction.

This auger drill bit had some difficulty getting started and so I had to position it clearly over the location I needed it to start which was not too precise. However, the size and quality of the hole was quite jagged and very not sharp. The size and functionality of the drill bit was alright for jobs like rough framing and like boring deep holes such as for games and fun boards. It fit nicely into my drill chuck and although it was the largest drill bit that I have used so far, it did not feel like it was unwieldy or tough to handle. Overall, this is a long drill bit that I do recommend.

The 3/8" shank is actually a lot smaller, and a 3/8" socket slips loosely and 1/4" is too small so it fits nothing as it's almost 9mm but that barely grips. I'm going to have to cut a 3/8 extension and weld one of the cut ends to the drill shank so I can get a friggen tool on it!

Excellent drill bit. I used it to drill started holes in a railroad ties used for landscaping. Worked smoothly to drill a dozen holes through that tough material. No overheating, and no broken bit, nor needing any undue pressure.
