Great lights & app; easy integration; but remove your dimmer FIRST & other tech advice
LOVE both the lights & free Wiz app. You can control the group, or the individual lights. Integration to Alexa was instant and easy. If you leave your wall switch always on and turn off the lights through the app, each unit only consumes about 1/2 watt in standby mode. The only pain was on installation day. 1- The metal junction box is barely big enough for a daisy chain of one Romex in and one out if you wire their boxes only. If you have access above, it will be easier to install a proper plastic junction box above for the daisy chain, and then one Romex into this j-box. 2-I had a wall switch dimmer for the old lights. I thought if I left it in place and at 100%, it would be fine til later- not the case. Warning- this gets techie from here on. I cut my 7 holes, and was installing the lights one at a time and turning the wall switch on to check. It went mostly fine for the first three. One time I bumped the dimmer down, and the lights were not happy about that. I had to leave them off for several seconds to fully reset to come back on. When I installed the fourth, it also had a problem coming on at first. But then it was OK. Strange... but moved on. After the 5th, they would not come on reliably. I installed an extra wall outlet dangling from Romex for the 6th light, and plugged a line tester into it. Saw something I have never seen before- the LEDs on the tester BLINKED. The electronics in the boxes must have been freaking out to cause this kind of interruption. I freaked for a few seconds along with it, then luckily it dawned on me quickly that they must be sensitive and need cleaner power than what my Luton dimmer was giving them. So stopped and went to the store (covered in attic dirt and insulation fragments) because I actually didn't have an extra $2 basic wall switch. After that swap out, no more problems coming on, and the honeymoon still hasn't stopped lol

Halo quality. Versatile color and music sync options. Expensive
I have used Halo retrofit lights in a lot of other spots in my new house and loved the quality and ease. This light also offers the same quality and ease of canless install. Just drill the hole, wire up the included junction box, slip the box into the ceiling, and then pop the light into place using the spring-loaded clamps. As with other Halo lights, the clamps on their retrofit lights are a real highlight, being strong enough to really seal off the gap but not so rigid as to make installation a nightmare. Once in place though, the real features of this light is that it offers adjustable colors and a music sync option. Due to this, I picked up one for my music room to see how it goes. Overall, it has given me a way of sort of spotlighting my guitars, rotating the light towards the area I set when playing. I can change the colors to change the mood and vibe. However, it annoys me that I have to use another app, the WiZ Pro app, for basically one light. While it offers the neat feature of color and syncing to music, the light itself is somewhat expensive, even for a Halo-quality light. This means I am unlikely to pick up many more (maybe just one) of these lights because I do not need to make my entire house a disco, just my music room, so I effectively have an app for one light. Overall, a neat concept light with a high quality build and lots of features. However, to me, it feels like the use cases for this type of light are pretty limited.

Requires 2 WiZ devices to detect movement...
The HALO 6” Smart Wi-Fi Canless LED Light Powered by WiZ Pro is a nice option if you need an adjustable gimbal for precise tilt and rotation, this light allows you to highlight specific areas of a room or avoid glare on screens. It integrates seamlessly with the WiZ app. SpaceSense uses Wi-Fi signals to detect motion and automate your lighting without the need for separate sensors. What they don't tell you is that it requires two WiZ devices in a room to work in tandem. (Minus 1 star) PROs ✅ Dynamic Motion Sensing: Equipped with SpaceSense technology, allowing the lights to activate based on movement detected through your Wi-Fi network. ✅ High-Precision Aiming: The adjustable gimbal design lets you rotate and tilt the light beam, making it ideal for sloped ceilings or accent lighting. ✅ Vibrant Color Palette: Offers full RGB customization with over 16 million colors and tunable whites to match your mood or daily routine. ✅ Simplified Installation: The canless design requires no housing or junction box, significantly reducing the complexity of both new construction and remodel projects. CONs ❌ Dimmer Incompatibility: Does not work with traditional wall-mounted dimmer switches and requires a constant "always-on" power source for smart functionality. ❌ Setup Complexity: While the physical install is easy, the software pairing process and "Powered by WiZ" ecosystem may feel complicated for users expecting a simple plug-and-play experience.

Easy, fast install
Love these things - put them everywhere in my house, including some in storage rooms keyed by automation where they come on when the door opens via Home Assistant. Super easy to install, wire, and program.

Easy to Install & Great Light Overall
I installed this can light from Halo very easily and it’s probably the best can type light I’ve seen. I installed this light in a laundry room and it made a huge difference. It’s very easy to install and set up. It comes with numerous features that can be controlled from your phone. The multiple light settings give you a lot of options on where you want to install the light. I did it on the brighter white since this was in a laundry room but all of the settings give up a bright light that fills the room. The reason this light is also worth an upgrade is the motion sensing which works great and is especially handy in rooms like a laundry room, garage, walk in closet where you’re in and out within a couple minutes. The dimming feature is also great and the app works well even if I won’t be using it often. You can always find cheaper can type lights but this light is so far above the others in quality that it’s worth the upgrade to get this quality. It’s a great value for all of the features you’re getting and the install and fit were seamless which isn’t always the case with budget lights. Overall this is a great light with no downsides so far and that’s what I expect from a brand like Halo.

Missing parts
I’ve been wanting to install a few canless lights around the house for several months. I’ve researched several brands, and I’ve been leaning towards HALO. I have a few friends who are happy with the app, they say they are easy to install, and they are readily available locally. The first location I planned to install one is above my washer and dryer in my garage. I have three 8’ dual tube fluorescent light fixtures in my garage. They operate on a single switch, and that is an obnoxious amount of light for most quick tasks. I wanted something with a fraction of the light to do laundry, throw something away, pull my car in/out, change air filters, etc. The new electrical wires are ran, a new switch is installed and ready to go, and all I need is the lights! Imagine my surprise when the kit I received isn’t complete. The box didn’t include instructions, it didn’t include a template, and it appears to be missing a hardware kit. All I received was the light, the power conversion box, and the bracket to hang the power box. Bolts to screw the bracket to the box? Forget it about… While this is a single bad experience in what I’m sure is an ocean of good experiences, it is my first experience with HALO. The old saying “make the first impression count” couldn’t be more accurate. Once we’re through the holiday season I’ll be researching my options again, and HALO will be starting low on the list.

Very nice light
I am in the process of installing this light, I will update once it’s installed. The installing looks to be very easy, no can, and nice wings that will grip the Sheetrock easily. It is rated for wet, so I will be installing it in the patio ceiling above my barbecue, so I will finally be able to see properly. The full tilt function built in is very nice, it works smoothly. The tunable white light is great and the multicolor is always fun. Looking forward to checking out all the features of the wiz app.

Decent smart light but feels overpriced
I picked up this light and it does the job, but I’m not blown away by it. The light itself works fine. It’s bright, dims smoothly, and the adjustable gimbal lets me point it exactly where I want. The color options are nice and it’s been reliable so far with no flickering or dropping offline. My two main complaints are the price and the app. At this cost I expected something a little more premium, but it feels pretty standard. The WiZ app is okay but not my favorite. It’s a bit clunky and I wish it was simpler to use. If you already like the WiZ ecosystem and don’t mind the higher price, it’s a solid enough light. For me it’s just alright, nothing special.
