RMR Instant Mold & Mildew Stain Remover Spray + Xtreme Soap Scum Remover, No-Scrub Indoor/Outdoor Cleaning System for Bathroom, Shower, Siding, & Deck, 2–32 Oz Bottles

This review is essentially two reviews. One for the Extreme Soap Scum cleaner and the other the Instant Mold & Mildew remover. For the Extreme Soap Scum cleaner, it claims to remove calcium, lime, and hard water spots without scrubbing. That's probably true for daily stains but just about any cleaner can make the same claim...including using a mixture of vinegar and water. What most people are looking for is something strong enough to remove long term buildup caused by months or years of neglect. I tested it out on a faucet with severe calcium deposits and a stain on a corner tile wall. The result was disappointing. Scrubbing with a toothbrush helped but it wasn't able to tackle tough caked on stains and deposits. I wouldn't consider it an epic fail since it did clean somewhat the stain and the calcium deposit so I would rate performance about average when compared with other household cleaners. Next up was the instant Mold and Mildew remover. I sprayed it on the same stain on the corner tile wall and to my surprise, the stain disappeared. It didn't all disappear (if you look really close) but I consider it a win. It definitely works better than most mold and mildew removers so I would rate the performance above average. Two photos are attached. The first photo is a 3 image collage showing the before image of what the stain on the tile wall looked liked, what it looked like after spraying and scrubbing with the Extreme Soap Scum cleaner, and finally, after spraying with the Instant Mold & Mildew remover. Granted, the Extreme Soap Scum cleaner isn't intended to remove mold and mildew, but I wanted to try it anyway. The second photo shows the before and after images of using the Extreme Soap Scum cleaner on calcium. Something it claims to remove. In my box, I received two sprayers, one for each bottle. However, the sprayers felt flimsy and my assumptions were confirmed when using the Extreme Soap Scum cleaner. When spraying, some of the liquid would leak from the sprayer so I would highly recommend wearing gloves when using either product. I would also recommend running the exhaust fan in your bathroom to minimize the fumes in an enclosed space.

Very great product, works extremely well. Just he sure to use items to protect your hands and eyes.

I had high hopes for this set, but it didn’t work as well as expected. It helped a little with light soap scum and surface spots, but it struggled with tougher mold and buildup. Even after letting it sit and trying multiple applications, I still had to scrub quite a bit. The spray is easy to use but the smell is also pretty strong, which wouldn’t be as much of an issue if the results were better. Overall, it might be okay for light cleaning, but for deeper stains or heavy buildup, it didn’t deliver the “no scrub” results it claims. Overall, it is not really a good value compared to other products that I have used.

I had high hopes for this product, the RMR Instant Mold & Mildew Stain Remover Spray + Xtreme Soap Scum Remover. I admit we have very discolored water that on the one hand is not unhealthy, but on the other hand looks bad as is on the red brown side. It discolors the grout between the shower tiles where the water hits. I tried the mold and mildew stain remover and left it on for a couple of hours. It did nothing at all for the stains. It did clean things well though, and now my bathroom smells like a pool (a good smell in my opinion). The lesson here is that maybe it only works on stains from mold and mildew, not iron or other causes of stains. I also tested the "no scrub" component of the soap scum remover bottle, and left it on for about 30 minutes before spraying it off. The lesson here is that there are no easy "no scrub" ways to get your shower door clean. It still had a visible area of soap scum on the door (see the picture). It did work fine when I sprayed it on and then manually used a sponge with a scrubber on one side and manually cleaned the door. So I knocked off one stay for the claim that its no-scrub and the lack of speedy in getting rid of the soap scum. But otherwise, I think these two products work well for cleaning. You get two sturdy 32 Oz bottles and mine came with two sprayers as well. They were sealed really well as the box was damaged in transit but no liquids came out so I felt they paid attention to safety issues in bottling and sending their products.
