Destron Essential Monofilament Fishing Line, Advanced Polymer Coating for High Abrasion Resistance, Super Smooth, High Strength, Low Memory Mono Line, Fresh and Saltwater Fishing

I’ve tried a lot of mono over the years, and this honestly surprised me. The KastKing Destron Essential has the smoothness and casting distance you usually expect from more expensive lines, but with noticeably better abrasion resistance around rocks, docks, and structure. I’ve been using it in both freshwater and light saltwater applications and it has held up extremely well. What stood out most was the low memory. Even after sitting on the spool, it stays manageable without turning into a tangled spring like a lot of mono lines do. Knots cinch down cleanly, strength feels very consistent, and I haven’t had any unexpected break-offs. Casting is smooth and quiet through the guides, especially on spinning setups. It also strikes a really good balance between sensitivity and forgiveness. You still get that classic mono stretch for fighting fish, but it doesn’t feel mushy or cheap. For the price, the performance is honestly hard to beat. If you want a dependable monofilament that casts well, handles cleanly, and can take abuse without spending premium-line money, this is an easy recommendation. Definitely buying again.

Great fishing line all around! Great knot strength, very abrasion resistant, casts very well. Great color selections. Thinner than your typical mono. Used at a very rocky spill way, slow bouncing jigs, got hung up about 30 times throughout the day, line never snapped, knots never broke, was able to free the jig every time. Can’t beat the price. My new go to!

This line is really quite limp and thin for a 4 lb test line. I used this to spool a new KastKing reel recently. The only thing I'll call out that was disappointing was the need to pull the line from the spool with the label down to make sure it wound onto the spinning reel without twisting. Normally this isn't a big deal but the bottom of the spool has the line keeper cut out so that needs to be covered before you can start pulling line from the spool with your reel. Other than the call out above, I think this ghost clear line will be just right for my fishing needs in small streams and pools.

I used the line in cold weather and it works great. It has a very low memory which helps that it won’t bind up or roll off the spool in a strong wind scenario. It casts very well! The 8lb test has the perfect thin diameter and strength for small mouth bass fishing.

Save yourself some money and buy eagle claw line at Walmart. I and my wife go thru a lot of line in a year crappie fishing and this Kastking is about the worst I've ever used. I added it to an Amazon order to get free shipping and let me tell you I'd have been better off paying shipping! Let me say I didn't buy it thinking it was going to be great but man this stuff is garbage. Will not keep a knot tied. After about a week it's almost impossible the get it to cast. Wife said get this junk off my reels. If your one of those that change your line once a week by all means. If not don't buy this junk!

This line appears much thinner than other monofilament lines of the same pound test, and in fact is thinner based on the specs. Also, the line is easy to tie and makes excellent knots for a 30 pound test line. I hope that is also abrasive resistant as advertised, to help in landing big snook who tend to abrade my line.
