I use these dividers in my classroom when working with wax jewelry models. They score the wax well and adjust easily. The points are not exactly aligned, but for the budget these are great. If you have the skill, you can grind or file the points to match. They are a good value for jobs like modeling and sculpting.

I’m a metalsmith and bench jeweler, and this adjustable steel divider has been a great addition to my workspace. It’s sturdy, smooth to adjust, and holds measurements securely once locked in place. The carbon steel construction feels durable and has a nice balanced weight, giving me good control when marking metal. The sharp points make clean, precise lines on various surfaces, and the locking mechanism keeps everything steady during repetitive measurements or circle marking. It’s accurate, reliable, and clearly built to last. Overall, this is a well-made, professional-quality tool that works perfectly for detailed jewelry layout and other precision metalwork tasks.

My primary use for this is wood working and I'm working in the multiple inch settings for drawing curves and circles that I'll then cut on. The compass has two sharp points no the ends that you use to mark your material, a spring on the top that applies pressure to open the compass, and an adjustment screw that you use to set your distance. It's approximately 4" from the pivot to the ends and opens a little over 4-1/2" which would make a circle a little over 9". For the adjustment screw the screw feeds through two threaded holders that are riveted to the compass and there's the adjustment nut and then a cone on the screw. It was easy to set the compass up to my desired setting and it did a good job at keeping that setting.

Purchased for use on leather. Dividers are a bit uneven but I manage to make it work. For the price, it’s good.
