Super easy to use good quality

Great little digital recorder. Easy to use, setup was a breeze, and good battery life.

This voice recorder is okay. At $24 you can't expect it to be the best quality recorder. The recordings are a bit muffled or tinny. It seems to record better in the lower voice ranges. I tried singing in it and it was not particularly good. (Of course, neither is my singing, so maybe it works too well.) The recorder is as small as expected. The directions are somewhat confusing but if you play with it a bit, you'll figure it out. The menu is pretty old-school with blocky letters and basic text. For an inexpensive recorder, it works fine. If you want high quality audio, I think you need to spend more.

I wanted a dedicated recorder so I could capture talks and story ideas without worrying about my phone cutting off recordings, and this has been perfect. I just switch it on and it starts recording. When I turn it off, it saves automatically. No menus, no extra steps, no stress. Transferring files is just as easy. I plug it into my computer with USB C and it shows up like a flash drive so I can drag and drop recordings in seconds. Sound quality is not studio level, but it is clear enough for transcribing talks, which is all I really need. It is small and light enough to keep in my pocket so I always have it when something worth recording happens. Simple, reliable, and a great value for what it does.

From time to time, I give talks, and sometimes those turn into books or articles. As someone once asked, "How can I know what I think until I hear what I say?" So my process is that I give a talk to find out what I want to say, and then I transcribe a recording of the talk. Which means I have to have a recording. I usually use my phone for that, but it's amazing how often that doesn't work properly. The recording app runs into a time limit. Or some event (like an incoming message) interrupts the recording. Or some other random thing happens to screw up the recording. I get home, and I have 12 minutes of a 30 minute presentation. I also spend a lot of time telling stories to kids. Often they're goofy, and entirely forgettable, but sometimes they're worth continuing, or even writing up for birthday presents. I've long wished I could just start a recording at the beginning of the story, and capture whatever happens. So I've been meaning to get a dedicated recorder. Something that I can just turn on, and leave running, in case anything interesting comes out of my mouth. :^D If I leave this in record mode, I just have to turn on the power, and (after a delay of a few seconds -- it's not 'instant', so you have to be aware of that) it starts recording. If I turn the power back off, it automatically saves the recording. I don't have to press any other buttons. If I want to transfer recordings to my computer, I just connect it with a standard USB-C cable (one is supplied, but they are ubiquitous) and it shows up as an external disk. I can copy over what I want, and delete everything from the recorder without going through lots of little screens or menus or modes. In other words, it could not be simpler to use. And it has more space and battery life than I will ever use. It seems to do a lot more than what I need it for -- I'm not going to use it to listen to the recordings, or play music, or store files -- but those are all icing on the cake for me. It's kind of like Excel -- there are maybe a dozen things that I do, and the other 39,000 things are there if I need them, which I never do. The sound quality is a little noisy, but that's probably because I haven't optimized it for capturing my voice in a room full of people. There are equalizer functions and sound resolution settings that I can play with, if this ever becomes a problem. Right now, it's good enough to get transcriptions. And it's light enough that I can keep it in a bellows pocket (along with my journal), and never even notice it until I need it. The only thing it's missing, really, is a clip so I could wear it while I walk around, as I often do when giving talks or telling stories. I'll figure out how to deal with that. For the price, it's an amazing value.

Note: The wrist strap in my pictures is my own, it's not included in the package, but the recorder has a place to add one.

Works good. Easy to use and connect. I like the voice activated feature and long battery life. Decent price for a good recorder.
