A higher quality Omega-3 supplement, but is it worth the price?
I take fish oil supplements from time to time, thinking that it never hurts to boost my Omega-3's, especially during months I don't get to eat as much seafood as I'd like to. The Amazon Vine Program provided me this bottle for review. This is the Paleovalley Omega-3 complex fish oil softgel supplements. It contains a good dose of Omega-3s and phospholipids, apparently sourced from "herring roe, anchovy, sardine, and mackerel oils". The bottle comes as a 28 day supply with 56 softgels, intending that you take two softgels per day. They are reddish-brown softgels, much different than the clear yellow ones I've taken before, and there's also red dots within the gels, which is presumably the herring roe. If you were to put your nose to the bottle, you will find it has a very slight fishy smell, but that seems to be mostly be masked by the lemon oil. They're easy to take, as they're not very large softgels. They are flavorless (unless if you decide to chew it). Just gulp them down with water. Thankfully, I haven't detected a fishy aftertaste. I've been taking two softgels per day with breakfast for the past few weeks. It claims that Omega-3s "support cardiovascular and cognitive function while promoting inflammatory response". I haven't noticed any immediate effects or improvements cardiovascular-wise or cognitive-wise, but if anything, I vaguely feel as though I'm in a better state of mind and body. This is difficult to ascertain whether or not the supplement had any effectiveness whatsoever. Of course, with no authoritative FDA validation, this supplement's health claims must be taken with a grain of salt. It appears to be a higher-end Omega-3 supplement given its $50 price tag, with the red appearance, better quality fish sources, floating roe balls, and the additional phospholipids. While it's nice to know you're taking in a high quality supplement, you're however getting practically the same amount of Omega-3s as most other competing, cheaper fish oil supplement offerings, minus the phospholipids (usually). Overall, unless if you are specifically advised to take Omega-3 supplements like this, you may otherwise not find much benefit besides those in the vaguest sense.

Yes there are some fish roe inside!
I had heard quite a bit about PaleoValley from some friends, so I was happy to try these PaleoValley fish oil pills. I have taken an Omega 3 supplement every day for years, so these are a natural fit into my routine. The side of the bottle says to take two pills per day for 1050 mg of Omega 3, as well as 750 mg DHA and 187 EPA. Two pills also includes 281 mg of phospholipids, which according to the product literature makes the Omega 3 more bioavailable. Taking two of these pills each day is a small and easy thing to do, but unfortunately I can't really measure or see what they are or aren't doing for me inside of my body; perhaps after several months or a year or more I could, but immediate effects are difficult to ascertain. However, I can say that these have caused me no issues, and I am impressed with the ingredients, which include a blend of fish oils from herring, anchovy, sardine and mackerel, plus wild herring roe. Herring roe is herring caviar, also known as herring eggs. As I understand it, herring roe is rich in Omega 3, so it seems like a natural fit. The ingredients list also mentions lemon oil, which adds a subtle lemon taste to bring down the fishiness. It does seem to work because while these do have a slight fishy smell, it is not overwhelming, nor is the lemon. The bottle is double sealed, which I like. The pills themselves have a darker, richer color than my typical fish oil supplement, and if you hold one up to the light an look closely you can see color variations inside. These are fairly expensive supplements to I hated to waste one, but I wanted to find out what that is, so I poked a hole in one and squirted out some of the oil. You can definitely see there are roe inside! In my opinion this does go to show these are minimally processed.. Overall, I am very happy with these Omega 3 supplements. The are a somewhat different approach than the typical salmon oil capsules, but I do like that the fish are wild caught, the variety of fish types, the deep color, the fact that they contain herring roe, that the oils are minimally processed and are made with GMP certification. PaleoValley seems like a great company and I feel good about taking these fish oil pills, but I wish they weren't so pricey.

Are they worth it?
I have taken Omega-3 supplements before, but this is the priciest option that I have taken. I do not have the knowledge of extensive research or analysis of Omega-3 supplements and have only taken them as they have often been recommended by friends and nutritionally experienced contacts, so my analysis will be short and simple. I have been taking these for 6-7 weeks, but I cannot attribute any improvements or benefits directly to the consumption of this product. The claims of No fishy burps, no after taste and easy on your stomach are valid – but I have never experienced any of those effects from other Omega-3 supplements I have taken. There is just not any proof of effectiveness of this product for me to want to pay this amount for only a one-month supply.

Amazing product, no fishy taste
Paleovalley Omega-3 Complex is a higher-end fish oil supplement that focuses more on absorption and ingredient quality than just hitting big numbers on the label. The main difference from typical fish oil is that the omega-3s are delivered in a phospholipid form, which is closer to how fats naturally exist in your body. In theory, that means your body can use more of what you’re taking instead of just passing it through. The formula is heavily weighted toward DHA, with a smaller amount of EPA. That matters depending on your goal. DHA is tied more to brain function, memory, and eye health, while EPA is more associated with inflammation and joint support. This product is clearly built with brain health in mind first. If you’re taking omega-3s for joint pain or inflammation, this isn’t the strongest ratio for that. The sourcing is one of the better parts of the product. It uses oils from smaller, wild-caught fish like sardines, anchovies, and mackerel, along with fish roe, which are generally lower in contaminants. It also avoids synthetic additives and uses whole-food-based ingredients instead of heavily refined oils. That shows up in how it feels to take. Most people won’t get the strong fishy burps that come with cheaper fish oil, although it’s still possible depending on how sensitive you are. The dosage is straightforward. Two softgels per day, no complicated schedule. It’s easy to stay consistent, which matters more than people think with supplements. Where this product loses ground is value. You are paying a premium for the delivery system and sourcing. If your only goal is to get a basic amount of omega-3s for general health, you can get similar numbers for a lot less money. The difference is in how well those omega-3s are absorbed and used, which is harder to measure but is the whole point of this product. Durability isn’t really a factor here, but consistency is. This is the kind of supplement where results, if any, come from taking it regularly over time. You’re not going to feel something immediately. It’s more of a long-term play for cognitive support and overall health. Bottom line, this is a well-made supplement with a clear focus. It makes sense if you care about clean sourcing, better absorption, and brain-focused omega support. It doesn’t make as much sense if you’re just trying to get cheap fish oil or specifically target inflammation and joint pain.

Top-tier fish oil. Pricey - for a reason
This is definitely more of a premium omega-3 supplement than your standard cheap fish oil capsules. The formula is heavily focused on DHA and phospholipid-based omega-3s from fish roe, which makes it feel a little more specialized than the usual generic “1000mg fish oil” products. A few things I liked right away: -Small softgels that are easy to swallow. -Uses small wild-caught fish sources like sardine, anchovy, herring, and mackerel. -Actually lists the DHA and EPA amounts clearly. The DHA content is especially high here, which may appeal to people specifically looking for brain/eye/nervous system support rather than just a basic omega supplement. The phospholipid aspect is interesting too and helps separate this from bargain-bin fish oils. I also appreciate that they avoid a bunch of artificial flavoring and unnecessary filler ingredients. The overall presentation and sourcing feel more thought-out than average. The main downside is honestly the price. At around $50 for 28 servings, this is expensive compared to regular fish oil supplements. You’re definitely paying for the fish roe sourcing and premium positioning. But... It's quality stuff, so I can't really fault the product or take away stars. Overall though, this feels like a genuinely higher-end omega supplement rather than just marketing hype with a fancy label slapped on it.
