HemoGuard Hemoglobin Test Meter kit with 25pcs strips and 25 capillary tubes

Couldn’t get this item to work correctly.

The kit comes with the tester, batteries, lancing device, lancelets, capillary tubes, test strips and control strips. Setup: Easy-ish. The shorthand/abbreviations they use on the display do not make sense, particularly with today's level of technology. The manual, however, do explain the meaning of the abbreviations. I simply set the date and time and confirmed the default unit of measure "g/dL". Accessories: The device comes with capillary tubes, which are simple enough to use. But the instructions don't say to use them. If you do testing for diabetes, then the instructions are similar. Assemble lancet device; place test strip in machine; prick finger; wipe off blood with a little alcohol and sterile gauze; apply blood to test strip. Accuracy: I have a high metabolism; diabetic type 2 and anemic. I am currently going through an anemia episode and got tired of going to the doctors lab for a simple test. The test results are very close to the results from the lab. At a bare minimum it correlates to how I feel (level of fatigue) and provides a relative comparison on levels from day to day or however often you decide to test. Pros: Clear display, test results are quick, made well, nice carrying case. Cons: Display abbreviations, instructions do not include use of all the accessories, no explanation on what to do with the control strips, why include the capillary tubes if you don't need to use them? Recommendations: Eliminate the accessories you don't really need and reduce the price. ACCURACY FOLLOW UP I recently had some blood work done at my primary care lab and was able to compare results to this machine and this machine is reading approximately 1.5 to 2 points higher. In other words hemoglobin numbers from my Dr's lab are lower than what this test kit is providing. The numbers, from the this home test kit, are consistent from day to day (5 days of testing), just on the high side.

Works good at monitoring my hemoglobin levels
