Huge ... Amazing price.....
This is a 1:10 scale crawler but described as XL size. And it is more like a 1:8 scale in reality ... A brilliant R/C vehicle and you get a quality machine for its low price point with lots of spares and upgrades readily available. Brilliant !!

the most fun I've had with my clothes on in a long time
Honestly I cannot understate how monstrously big this is. I love it. A lot of the volume is admittedly the boxy 4x4 style body shell. The main chasis is a dense plastic ladderframe style cage, and onto this is bolted a large steel folded plate at each end to extend the overall length. The mounting of these plates is notoriously clumsy and easily broken so it's almost essential to strengthen this if you're going to use it outdoors in my opinion (easily search for 'ftx kanyon chassis mod' for several guides). Other than this, this beast comes out of the box literally plug-and-play ready. I was impressed that it took less than 5 mins to unbox and have it running. I also really appreciate the fact that everything is relatively standardised and open too, so it's working out well as my first RC modding project. I can bang a brushless motor and ESC in, but I don't HAVE to yet, I can just test the limits of this and do it when I want to later. The servo is standard and easily accessible, the oil shocks work extremely well. Everything is perfectly modular, and I was really pleased that the choice of assembly out of the box is more than enough to have a fun time straight away still. It's not the fastest beast, and that works well for me because we wanted to have a fun time with it in sight, and not just whizz it off into the distance and back, so the torque-forward way the power is delivered was just what I wanted. The ESC can only be changed with a nifty button press to switch to protected LIPO mode, rather than NIMH, if you have LIPOs already you dont need to rip the ESC out in order to use them. To swap between modes:- With it turned off, hold the small white program button on the ESC (down next to the blue heatsink).- Switch on whilst holding, let go after one beep for NIMH/unprotected mode. Let go after two beeps for LiPo/protected mode.- After letting go of the button, the three note tune should play, then turn the whole thing off and on again and away we go.
