I'll be straight upfront and say I found this product to be a bit of a mess. Advertised as a portable internet radio - it piqued my interest. Obviously I'd realised I'd need some sort of internet connection with it anyway - either paired to a mobile device, connected to wifi at home or using a sim (e-sim only - more in a minute) but I thought it would be an interesting gadget to test out. A specific 'internet radio' device? I'd never seen one before. And I still haven't. This appears to be first and foremost a walkie talkie (the WT in the WT2 product code) - and as such I'd need a corresponding one to test with. It's been a good few years since shouting 'breaker breaker' into my Dukes of Hazzard-themed walkie talkies and I'm not about to start now. So how about the radio? Rough. In fairness - while you're listening it's fine. At least at home on wifi I had a good, stable connection. Audio quality from the built-in speaker was acceptable - not exactly great for music though. Unfortunately there's no headphone socket - bluetooth is your only option here. The listing, marking as favourites and adding services though...yikes. This is quite possibly the worst UI I've used in a modern device - very reminiscent of early mobile phone interfaces. For some reason there's also an option that allows you to add channels via voice which connects to some sort of ChatGPT powered service. So if you're happy with your biometrics going to some random site then have at it. I did try it and it couldn't find the 2 channels I had set my testing goal on anyway. This honestly feels like someone's electronics project thrown into a shell. A cohesive product this is not. And not one you can open either - the battery is not accessible. It does the things it claims - just not very well.

The Choyong WT2 Multi-Band Smart Internet Radio is very much a walkie talkie first. In fact, when I opened the box I thought I had ordered or received the wrong item. This small walkie talkie has a lot of other functions: it is an intercom, a radio )FM,AM, Short wavw, marine wave, and internet). Unfortunately none of the functions work very welll. The small manual warns that turning on the intercom or walkie talkie means it runs in the background and uses up the battery quickly. I turned it on accidentally while trying to enter my wifi passwreod on the tiny virtual keyboard, and got someone else's conversatio.. I did not understand it, as it was in Chinese, but are walkie talkies suopposed to offewr a measure of prvacy? I could not testt the walkie talkie or internet functions since I only had one handsewt. Wghat I was most interested in was the intewrnet radio. Most of the reason for the 2 star review was the functionig of the internet radio. It dropped signal and/ or disconnected from bluue tooth frewquently. It offers a small numbner of stations but says you can add more from their webn site (no browser is available) or your phone. If you have your phone you have all of the other functions, and access to better internet radio aapps and stations. It does not have a touch screen and entering the wifi password is tedious on trhe tiny virtual keyboard. The radio interface is more sensible but offers few choices, many of which are unavailable. AND, IF TYOU FIND A STATION, IT GENERALLY CUTS OUT WITHIN A COUPLE OF MINUTES. I GOT USED TO SEEING "PLAY ERROR". This is the 4th internet radio I have tried, and far and away the worst. This price ids at the lower end for internet radios, but is still very expensive for the level of functionality.

Intro: I ordered this Choyong WT2 out of pure curiosity and nostalgia. Growing up, I loved listening to Atlantic 252 here in the UK, which brought a refreshing, high-energy US-style radio vibe from across the pond. Since then I've always been sad to not hear it anymore. I wanted to see if this hybrid internet and analogue radio could reopen that gateway to global content and break me out of the "presenter-heavy" loop of modern UK radio. The Product: Triple-Threat Connectivity: Access over 40,000 stations via 2.4GHz Wi-Fi or the built-in 4G eSIM, alongside high-sensitivity FM/AM/SW analogue bands. AI-Powered Discovery: Integrated GPT allows for natural language search; you can simply ask for a specific genre or city to find a matching station instantly. Professional RF Hardware: Uses a specialized car-grade TEF6686 chip for superior signal-to-noise ratios, allowing for clear reception even on distant bands. Versatile Media Player: Supports Bluetooth 5.2 streaming and TF card playback for your personal music library. Maintenance Friendly: Features a high-resolution display and a replaceable, rechargeable 2500mAh battery, ensuring the device remains functional for years to come. My Experience: I am absolutely amazed by this—it has opened a gateway to a whole new world of listening. The unit is a solid, rectangular object that feels very well-made, and I found it very easy to get to grips with. Once I got my Wi-Fi connected (pro tip: use the number keypad for digits!), the experience was seamless. I opted for an 80s station from the US (955 80s) and was hit with music I actually wanted to hear with minimal interruptions from presenters with their social banter/content/message. It’s a tiny speaker in the grand scheme of things, so I view it as an entertainment device first rather than a hi-fi system, but the sound is perfectly adequate for personal listening. It has turned a curiosity purchase into a daily essential. I know this isn't related to the specific product but the first radio station I went to - I've not heard a presenter yet, the music is more genre sporadic which I like, and the adverts can be serious, but still have a little humour - and I've only heard 3 ads in a row! Completely refreshing. I wouldn't be without this now, and I carry it everywhere! The Ideal User: Radio hobbyists, nostalgic listeners who miss the variety of international broadcasts, or anyone wanting to rediscover the joy of global music without installing dozens of phone apps. The Deal Breaker: The Freedom of Choice. While smartphone apps can do some of this, having a dedicated device with a physical keypad and a proper telescopic antenna makes finding new music feel like an adventure again. The fact that the battery is rechargeable and replaceable is a huge plus for longevity. Summary: A revolutionary handheld that perfectly blends nostalgic analogue radio with the limitless world of modern internet streaming. Star Rating: 5/5

A handy little radio that has traditional AM/FM frequencies and 2 way radio capabilities. All that works well, and the sound is pretty clear at low and mid volumes. At higher volumes sound suffers a bit. For some reason, I just can’t get it to connect to WiFi (I’ve tried two different WiFi networks and different frequency bands). Size is compact, but it gets pretty tall once the antenna is attacked. Easy to charge with USB-C (thank god it’s not a proprietary charger), and battery last surprisingly long. Overall, it’s a quality radio that I will keep on hand for emergencies.
