This is a thick (not super thick, but thicker than some flimsy cables) looking bike cable, and it's fully enclosed in plastic or rubber. The good thing is that since everything is wrapped in plastic or rubber, this should limit any damage to your bike's paint. Then the part where the end is crimped for a loop, it's wrapped in black, so it's also fully covered. This cable actually looks pretty thick, which is quite a bit different than other bike cables out there. That said, the twist on the cable isn't very tight, so while it looks thick, it's may not be a tightly twisted cable (which would make cutting easier). Then again, if they were going to cut your cable, it's prob better to have a thicker one vs a thinner one. I think if they made it sold black, it would be much much better. This would mean you can't see the interior cable, so people think it's a thick tightly twisted robust cable.

Exactly what I was looking for. I am actually using this as a tether within my dog salon for when I (in a emergency situation or extreme need) need to take a dog off the table and I wanted something short but super sturdy so that if I turn my back to the dog for a few moments (but not an extended amount of time) I can do so without having the dog run off or get into trouble within the salon. I work alone and therefore have to basically have eyes on my clientele the entire appointment. But I like to be prepared in case of emergency. I looped it on itself and around the leg of my table (my table is a electronically lifted table and probably weighs more than I do.) Perfect for the need and it's coated as well so it shouldn't get ruined by some occasional water droplets.

It is thick, flexible, sturdy, coated in thick smoke-clear plastic, and the loop ferrules are covered with protective caps to prevent scratching. It should serve well as a theft deterrent for bicycles, motorcycles, or anything else that 4 feet of cable will help you secure. Lock not included. Yes, I would buy this with my own money. Yes, I would recommend it to a friend.

This is a review of the 4 foot length. Cable measures a true 4 feet (48") from center to center of the end loops. A plastic coating protects your bike's finish. This length has limitations, such as locking a large bicycle, or 2 bikes, or securing the front wheel in addition to the frame. But it is lighter and more compact than the shorter sizes, and that is exactly why I ordered it. I wanted something simple for short runs into the grocery store or coffee shop without lugging a 10 pound lock and chain. It is on the short side, but it is still as thick as the longer versions. No cable is theft proof but this one gives me confidence.

Even if you squeeze the loops a bit to get it longer, it doesn't reach 48" - came zip-tied together, leaving some slight damage to the protective sleeve, should've used a velcro tie not just for shipping/packaging purposes, but for the end user to have something to keep the cable compact for carrying on the bicycle - compared to my OnGuard brand lock cable, the sleeves covering the loop joins don't fit quite as closely (see photo, OnGuard is yellow, J-Tech is black). These sleeves are by no means meant to be watertight, but for neatness sake, they should fit closely as the OnGuard one does, and not slide off as readily as t he J-Tech ones do

Overall, it's a great quality cable that is weatherproof and will probably last a lifetime from all but the most determined cutting tools.
