A Very Useful Little Book for Keeping on Top of your Spending
Being new to Kokeibo, I wasn’t really sure to expect. However after perusing the internet for a few hours I managed to get a good idea of what I wanted from it. What I really like about this book: - 5 week months (like real life!). - A quick and easy to understand explanation/ reminder at the front of the book. - Decent quality paper. - weekly, monthly and yearly tally pages. - Undated so you can start whenever you like (though it makes sense to begin at the beginning of the month. - Different sections for types of expenditure so you can really see where your money is going. What I am not so keen on: - I only got it yesterday and already the front cover is a little scuffed. I am a bit of a stationery nerd so take care of books… - No page marker. However the sleeve that is on the back cover could double as a page marker or you could simply use a bookmark. Overall thoughts: A good little book (A5ish). Easy to understand even for a newbie like me. I like that it has five week months. I journal on paper every day so I think it’s likely that I’ll fill it in every day. If you don’t do that, you may find any type of pen and paper accounting a bit of a chore. At the time of my purchase it’s relatively inexpensive - around the cost of a decent coffee and sandwich in a café, so if you buy it and find you only use it for a couple of months it’s not the end of the world money wise. It’s a little too heavy to pop in a handbag, so I’ll keep receipts to fill it in at the end of the day. So far I’m happy with my purchase, if that changes I’ll update. I’ve added a lot of photos so you can get a better used of what’s in the book but haven’t photographed them all. There is even more goodness to look forward to in the book itself!

What a revelation!
Love this system - can't really call it a book but a new and mindful way of tracking your spending. I want to save but can be very frivolous with my money - I only have to look at my previous purchases on Amazon to know how much I spend! This system forces you to both account for the actual money you have at the beginning of the month which also includes the change in your car/purse/pocket as well as the more obvious income such as wages but, rather than berating yourself for what you spend, the system encourages you to set aside an amount for certain purchases and stick to it. Seems obvious but it is supposed to cut down on that impulsive shop that frankly I know I could probably survive another day without!. My suggestion is to just spend as normal for the first couple of weeks of doing the Kakebo to see what your spending actually looks like then apply the other parts of the system where you deliberately think in advance about how much you will spend on which items. Love it!

Looks good but only lasts 1 year, not 2. Also not suitable for regular usage, already coming loose.
Only just arrived so can't comment on how weel it works but it looks good. Biggest negative so far is that the description says it is for 2 years when it only lasts for 1 which is disappointing as I expected more. Update 17/08/19. Used for two months now and it's still good but it is already starting to fall apart. By the time I get to 6 months I expect it'll be in pieces. Disappointed as it is really useful.
