Shires Double Jointed Pelham With Sweet Iron Mouth

I bought this bit many years ago and has been a very nice bit. Didn’t want to spend too much in case my horse didn’t take to a Pelham bit. My plan being if he did I would purchase a more expensive one …..however being such a comfortable bit I have never felt the need to buy another one.Have just purchased this bit for the second time as over the many years the bit has a bit of wear and tear …..very happy with it 😃

My horses go in kk snaffles but for the more exciting work they need a bit more,they love the kk's but they are very expensive!so i gave this bit a go as a cheaper alternative while keeping the same mouth piece that they both like,they mouth on them and seem to really like it and i have brakes!

very good quality heavy but mouth piece is soft on the mouth at sides as designed for bridle to take weight leaving the split bit ideal for horses who like to move bit around and can play with it as has lozenge gives good control without the harshness on mouth like some other bits

keeps the mouth moist and chewing and the brain in gear!

Always had a problem with inserted the rubber pelham so tried this. My 17h warm blood loves this bit. This is a repeat order in 6inches as 51/2inches seemed a little small on her.

Love this use this on my Fresian gelding when he is in fresh mode if not ridden for a few weeks and does the job I ride him in the full cheek version when not fresh.
