I do not have a GPS display on my van so I was using a dollar tree phone holder clipped to the air vent of the AC but it was too low. I purchase this AONKey cell phone holder after I read a few reviews on this and other products. I also watched videos too. This Cell phone holder has stayed in place. The grip/suction is a very good hold. It is durable and sturdy. I like that I did not have to adhere it and can just remove it and reposition it. I believe it came with an adhesive tape but it does not need it. I used this on a van dashboard. The value was good too. My phone is tall, so I have not tried it in the portrait position but have mine in the horizontal position. There is no shaking while I am driving. I am happy I bought this item and have recommended this to my friends.

I don't typically write reviews unless an item either greatly falls below or exceeds my expectations. This case was certainly the latter, because this phone mount works amazingly. First and foremost, it does not use an abrasive tape that leaves residue upon removal. I have taken the holder on and off my dash dozens of times now and it leaves no indication it was ever there. Moreover, the holder stays precisely where you place it on your dash - it is very secure once you've suctioned it to your desired location. It is also versatile enough to hold some of the smallest and largest phones on the market today. My work phone shown in my photo is an iPhone SE 3 without a case. The phone I took this photo with is my personal iPhone 16 Pro Max with a thin case. The holder holds both phones perfectly and neither have fallen out during hard cornering or accelerating. I have a sporty 2-door coupe with a proper manual transmission and lots of on/off-ramps on my commute. I am a spirited driver, yet neither phone has even budged once its placed in the holder. It's a perfect product and works 100% as advertised. I can't recommend it enough - 10/10.

The phone case I use has a flap on the back that holds 1 ID card and 3 debit cards. I also use a finger strap on the case. The vehicle I drive is a '06 Nissan Frontier. I've search many products that claim to hold a thick phone with case. I've been disappointed by two previous purchases that couldn't come close to holding a phone of about 27mm at the thickest point. This one does- although the orientation is in landscape. I'll take it. It's better than my thick phone vibrating out of the too-small-holder while driving down the highway at a busy interchange when I need my navigation. The bottom surface has a gel pad and a center area that is more adhesive. My dash does not have a flat surface, but without using the center adhesive pad (it has a removable/replaceable plastic protector), it does not shift much on short trips to test. I am able to set the holder close to the windshield as it has a smaller over-all footprint than using an arm mounted holder that obstructs more of your view while driving. With far fewer parts than an arm mounted holder that uses cheap parts to maintain position- it never sags or droops out of position or onto my charging cable. Access to charge is never a problem. Securing the charging cable while phone is in use is a consideration although there are ways to manage it. Since I am required to display state inspection stickers on my windshield, that is the perfect spot to place the holder and not lose anymore visibility while driving. It clamps the phone in place and offers different positions to angle the phone. It does not clamp-down too hard on the case but strong enough to hold the phone in place. I have another phone case with a round socket device that I believe would fit into this phone holder as well. (Yet to be tested.) I am pleased with this product. I am never inconvenienced with removing and reinserting my phone into the case while on road trips and the stops along the way. I want to travel light, get in- get out, and this phone holder finally makes that easy to do.

So far, so good. It's only been a week or two, but the new Summer heat hasn't yet been a problem. The mount stays in place and adequately holds my phone steady. It only holds it horizontally--which I was aware of before purchasing--but it's something to take note of if considering this product. It should also be considered that this mount mostly only finds space and positioning on the upper dashboard of most vehicles. This means that the phone sits in the sunlight. This presents two issues: 1) The phone heats up quickly and can lead to charging being paused, and 2) The being in the sun means no shadow across the screen to block out any glares (and there are certainly glares), which cause the phone screen to be difficult to read. Overall though, the product serves its purpose and does not block driver's view of the road or potential hazards.

Update, 11/18/2020: I guess the summer sun, in Upstate New York, is too much for the rubber strip to take; it keeps coming unglued and falling off. Otherwise, this is still a pretty nice device. Update, 10/28/2019 About one month after I received the Aonkey phone holder, the rubber strip came unglued and fell off the of the bottom of the top jaw. A couple drops of glue remedied for now. I know that when I clamp my iPhone 8 between the spring-loaded jaws of this Aonkey holder, it will hold it firmly and securely in place, even on curvy and bumpy country roads. I would recommend this product to a friend. ————————————- I purchased the Aonkey Dashboard Cell Phone Holder to hold my iPhone 8 and it does hold it securely, but only in the horizontal position. In fairness, nothing in the product's online advertisement claimed that it would hold a cell phone in the vertical position, so I never expected it to do so. However, the included instruction sheet is not for this model, and the model shown does claim to hold a phone in the vertical position. I would have really preferred that model. Pros: (1) a spring tension plastic clip, equipped with a set of upper and lower silicone lined jaws, hold a cell phone securely in place; (2) the jaws of the phone holder open to a generous 4.5"; (3) the silicone jell base very securely adheres to the slightly pebble-grained, hard vinyl dashboard of my Toyota Camry; (4) for even greater adhesion, you only have to remove a thin plastic wrap covering an extra sticky area of the base; (5) and a recessed area at the center of the base is designed to act as a suction cup, probably for vehicles equipped with a smooth dashboard; (6) it comes with yet an additional double-sided tape, foam rubber oval, to more permanently mount the holder to a dashboard; (7) when empty, (sans cell phone), the base has a nice low profile, measuring about 1.25" from top to bottom; (8) the clip is double-grooved to slightly vary the angle of the cell phone, potential reducing screen glare; (9) without using the more permanent foam rubber mount, the holder can easily be moved from vehicle to vehicle; (10) although this holder is made almost entirely out of plastic and silicone, it appears to be well made and sturdy. Cons: as noted above, (1) this model is incapable of securely holding a cell phone in a vertical position; (2) and it comes with the wrong product instruction sheet. Since the "pros" vastly outnumber the "cons," I'm giving this product five stars.

Ordered this to use for an upcoming 800+ drive in an unfamiliar vehicle, so that I could use my smart phone as hands-free GPS that wouldn't fall down, slip off the dash, etc. The unit arrived quickly, packaged very well. The hinge is strong without being unwieldy and there are multiple positions/widths cut into the rubber grip to support different phone models. There is built-in "sticky" rubber on the bottom that comes protected by peel-off film, as well as an additional 3M double-sided sticky pad that is optional. We only used the built-in sticky pad to attach to the dashboard which had a slight slope. The unit never budged and the grip was strong enough to stay in place even when manipulating the gripping hinge. Even though the unit stays put, nice and snug, it was easy to remove by prying it loose, at which point you can either put it back (I had to reposition it slightly, since it does not pivot) or you can recover the sticky pad with the protective film or some saran wrap to keep it clean. There was no mark visible on the dash when we removed it the first time, although only time will tell if it leaves a mark after being in place for several months vs several days. I'm very pleased with this product. I'm leaving it in place against future need-- when not in use it automatically folds flat and is unobtrusive.

Die Qualität und die Haltbarkeit hat mich bereits überzeugt. Liegt stabil und rutschsicher auf den Ar Armaturenbrett. Das Handy lässt sich aber nur quer einlegen - das wusste ich aber schon vor den Kauf. Wichtig ist darauf zu achten das man auch den Platz in Auto hat. Die Halterung bzw. das Patt sollten schon ganz aufliegen damit dies auch nicht verrutschen kann. Würde es auf alle Fälle weiter empfehlen ...

I use this to hold my phone on the dashboard of my Ampera. No special fixing is requires and it folds out of the way neatly when not in use. Seems very stable - definitely better than a screen-mounted holder.
