Beautiful, high quality solar system mobile that includes Pluto
We were very pleased with the quality of this mobile. It was quite easy to hang, as long as you can reach your ceiling and attach a hook or other means of hanging the mobile. Because the sun hugely dwarfs all the planets, it would be impossible in any home I've seen to hang a mobile that was done to scale. This mobile preserves the relative order of size, with the sun in the center being quite big and the other planets sized from biggest to smallest. The three arms came very close to being in balance. We corrected a slight imbalance by squeezing one or two weights used on fishing lines onto the hanging arm. All in all, we were impressed with the craftsmanship and ease of assembly. This mobile is nice enough to hang anywhere in your house. If you want one to hang over a crib, cheaper ones are available that would serve for an infant or toddler. This is made to please discriminating adults.

Great mobile, worth the money
We are changing our nursery into a more toddler-appropriate space, and since our little guy is all about rockets and robots I went looking for a solar system mobile to go with his solar system themed bedding from Land of Nod. At first I thought I would try to make my own, but then I found this one. I was a little hesitant given the price, but I think it is completely worth it. The planets seem sturdy (our little guy couldn't keep his hands off them when we were assembling it), it is all wonderfully balanced, and the wire arms and strings virtually disappear when it is installed. I like that it is big and bold without being unwieldy, and it doesn't look cheesy or juvenile. I like that the planets are covered with photos of the actual planets' surfaces. You can see the seams, but I don't really mind that. My only complaint is that one arm did not seem to fit together too securely (you just push the ends together) but a little glue will fix that if needed, and it seems to be holding so far while hung despite coming apart multiple times while we were assembling it. Overall, we couldn't be happier with this.

Fantastic model
I purchased this mobile for my son's third birthday. When he saw it, he could only whisper, "Wow." This mobile is wonderful! The planets are made of actual pictures of each planet that have been painstakingly pasted into place. I was very impressed with how detailed they are. For example, all of Earth's continents are visible and perfectly formed. Each planet is easily identifiable both by sight and by the label included. The mobile itself is perfectly balanced and each hook is clearly labeled, making it very easy to attach the planets correctly. It is markedly easier to hang the mobile with two people (one to hold the mobile while the other actually hangs it), though it could be done by one in a pinch. It is surprisingly light: the planets move at the slightest disturbance of the air. That said, this is not a sturdy, hands-on type mobile that I would allow my toddler to bat around. The planets can be removed from their hooks quite easily and the metal rods come apart with little effort. This is definitely a soft-touch toy that should be hung out of the reach of little hands unless you want to reassemble it regularly. The planets themselves, however, are surprisingly sturdy. (I discovered this as I dropped some of them a few times. They don't dent or deform easily.) If my son wants to examine one more closely, I feel very comfortable pulling it down and letting him handle it. I am very pleased with this purchase!

Beautiful plantetary mobile
I got this for my granddaughter's third birthday gift. She has been enthralled with the Artemis astronauts, seeing Jupiter and Venus in the night sky, and watching the changing shape of the moon. She really loves this beautiful mobile, which is a star in her newly outfitted "big girl" bedroom (no more crib.) Until it was up in her room I hadn't thought about the fact that for her, Jupiter is a bright star in the sky, not a part of some Solar System. I'm sure as she gets older, having grown up looking at the planets and Sun will help her understanding and encourage a love of science and nature.

Nice educational mobile
Nice and educational mobile that looked as expected and was easy to assemble though I used a little glue to keep the bars jointed. A tighter fit woudl have helped.

High quality, superbly packaged and easy to assemble
I purchased this for my daughters’ outer space themed room. I could not be more pleased with the quality of this mobile. It is well made and solid. The planets are not cheap, shiny plastic but rather appear to be paper covered, pleasing and sturdy replicas of the planets and sun. Better even than the quality of this mobile is the care that was taken to package it, along with the ease of assembly. Everything is labeled and the mobile arms themselves are balanced perfectly by the weight of each planet. It was hanging beautifully from my daughters’ ceiling within ten minutes. If you are debating, as I was, between spending more for this mobile versus one that is far cheaper, don’t hesitate to purchase this. It is beautiful and will last for many years. I highly recommend it.

Great for learning AND decoration
Santa hung this up in my son's room while he slept, which was no easy task. Practically a scene from Mission: Impossible. The assembly is best done with two people - one to attach the wires together and hang planets, and another to hold pieces in place so nothing gets tangled. It can be done with just one person, but you'll need patience with it. The first thing you should know is that this is not a toy for playing with, but a model for observation, learning, and just looking cool. The planets and the entire display itself is held up by very thin strands of string/thread. This is so they don't distract from the planets, making the string appear "invisible", and easily allowing you to imagine the planets floating in space rather than dangling. For similar effect, the metal wires are also thin, making it all too easy for things to bounce around. The pamphlet doesn't give any instructions for hanging, so I thought I'd write something up to help out anyone without prior experience. 1. Pick up some hooks from your local hardware store - ones with a wood screw shaft. I chose the ones that are coated in rubber because the string is thin and a metal hook might (over time) break through it. Hooks are typically in the hardware section with all the other screws, nuts, and bolts. Chat with an employee if you have questions about this process. 2. Find a joist in the ceiling so the hook goes into wood and not just drywall. Then, drill a pilot hole into the joist using a drill bit with a diameter slightly smaller than the screw portion of the hook. 3. Hand-screw the hook into the pilot hole until the thread of the screw portion is no longer visible. If using the rubber coated hook, the metal portion won't be visible and the rubber portion will be touching the drywall above. DON'T overtighten. Give a gentle tug on the hook to ensure it bit the wood and the model won't come crashing down after you hang it. 4. Determine how far down you want the model to hang and unwind the thread from the white tag to match. Keep the excess thread on the white tag and do not remove it. It will help keep the thread in place while you tie the knots. 5. Double or triple knot the thread around the hook, sliding the white tag through the loops. Keep holding the model up while doing so as the thread will have a tendency to slide through the knot and the model will lower slowly. After your second or third knot, the model will stay in place. I recommend at least three knots. You can then hook the white tag with the excess thread onto the hook through the tag's hole. This let's you keep the excess thread without cutting it off in case you wanted to move it or lower it later. 4. Hang the planets according to the instructions. Your planet strings might have Venus labeled twice by mistake, with Earth missing. Refer to the instructions pamphlet as it tells you where Earth and Venus truly goes. 5. If the balance of one metal wire is off by a little bit, wrap a couple paperclips around a pen, remove the lighter weighted planet and place the paperclips on top so they're sitting around the planet's hook. Rehang the planet. Add more paperclips if necessary.

Requires some skill to set up.
I actually managed to hang up this mobile all by myself, but it was a full-day project. After that, it was well-worth the effort. Warning: The representation in this mobile is not 100% Scientifically accurate. The biggest faulty detail is, the designers paired two planets at one end of each rod, in return for which the planet on the opposite end needed to extend further from the center. This could lead people to assume at a glance, a wrong order of the outer planets. I.e., Uranus hangs next to Pluto, Opposite Neptune, at long distances from the Sun. But, the designers put the correct planet-numbers, plus their names, on each rectangle, above each planet, at the point where it attaches to the rod. And the net effect of that is to make me think somewhat, about the planets. And that's what the mobile is supposed to do. Also, each plastic sphere is solid enough, to survive being dropped on the floor once. This helped save my mobile, from me setting it up.

Great looking mobile. Some problems. Could be better.
Really great idea but unfortunately ours wasn't put together so that it balanced. Messed around with the glued-on string suspensions to try and fix it but Saturn just loves to collide with Uranus. Also, some of the planet patterns weren't assembled very well. For close to $200 I would expect a bit more. I tried to return it in good faith but the company didn't respond. So I filed an amazon claim. Too bad that was necessary. This is definitely on of the best looking mobiles I found online. Just an FYI - it is really big! Careful to check the dimensions if you are ordering one.
