Meinl Percussion Meinl Cajon Box Drum Set Hybrid Percussion Kit, inch (CAJ-DRUMSET)

This kit is awesome! When I saw Meinl's promotional video, I knew I had to have this kit, and I fully expected to pay between $800-$1,000 for it. But when I saw the $499 price tag I jumped on it; and it's a good thing I did, by the end of the night they were sold completely out on Amazon. This kit's minimalist design does not sacrifice sound quality. The cajon produces a deep, voluminous thump, while the snare projects a pleasant, tonal crack. The 13" HCS hi hats sound great considering that they're an entry-level offering. The hardware and pedal are excellent quality as well. I really can't say enough good things about this kit. The one downside is that the snare cannot be disengaged, nor can it be tuned to change its pitch. However, even in light of that, not only am I pleased with this cajon drum set, my expectations were completely surpassed. This kit rocks.

To get optimal performance an experienced drummer is necessary. But an inexperieced drummer can grind.

Cajon has a nice finish and build. Snare gives a nice snap and even rim click. Hi hat is sturdy, though the rod is annoyingly short so you'll have to get a longer one (the one included is about 15", gilbratar sells a 24" for around $14). The bag is quite nice and handy. The bamboo sticks get a really great sound out of the snare, and get a smooth sound out of cymbals which tbh is exaxctly what you're looking for when you're playing a cajon in an acoustic setting. The shaker has a very nice sound, but it is very quiet compared to LP shakers. Now, the cajon pedal is the absolute worst part of this kit and my opinion makes the kit not worth buying. My pedal's wire broke the very first day of use. Do some research on the pedal, you'll find this to be a design flaw. If you buy this pedal whether on this kit or by itself it will fail you. You cannot depend on it for even practice sessions. My recommendation, that unless they decide to switch the pedal for either a direct drive style pedal or the Gibraltar pedal which has a better build, you're better off building your own kit.

When I received the set the cajon snare had a crack in the side of it, which I could live with because it did not affect the sound. But a week or two into playing it the cable on the pedal snapped and I have been without it for about 3 weeks now waiting on a replacement cable. I do not play with a heavy foot so there is no reason it should snap that soon. The cymbals are basic Meinl cymbals.

The cable to the kick pedal broke less than 2 hours into the first gig. Had to return the entire kit for a replacement. Then the kit was on backorder with no idea when it would be ready so I canceled the purchase. Made a bass cajon and using a single kick pedal. Ordered the cajon snare with mount separate and was back busking the next weekend. The kit would be great if the cable in the kick was thicker or stronger.

The kit on the whole is fantastic; sounds great mic'ed up and has great response. The downfall of the system is the pedal. A cable driven pedal doesn't cut it for a drummer looking for a stripped down drum kit. Might work well if you're going to strike the bass drum on 1 and 3, but if your looking to mimic complex rhythms, it's going to let you down. I've broken 2 cables in 6 months- the first broke after only 4 hours of playing. The cable frayed at the pinch point on the beater end and broke there each time, once during a gig- a bad look for a musician. Meinl would serve musicians so much better by creating a direct drive pedal. Without a pedal the kit is essentially useless.

Ich habe mein E-Drum gegen dieses Set hier "getauscht". Es braucht einfach weniger Platz und man kann trotzdem richtig loshotten. Alles kam gut verpackt an. Die angepriesene Tasche ist aber nur für das Cajon. Snare, Hihat und das Pedal passen da nicht hinein. Das hatte ich aber bereits vorher vermutet. Es ist alles sauber verarbeitet und von guter Qualität. Das HiHat war schwerer als gedacht. Das Gesamtset hat schon ordentlich Gewicht. Negativ war allerdings, dass drei Dinge fehlten: die Silikonhülle für die Snare, die Aufbauanleitung sowie die Drumsticks. Gut, die Anleitung habe ich nicht benötigt, aber für Neulinge wäre das schon ärgerlich gewesen. Habe dann den Amazon-Kundendienst kontaktiert und umgehend 50 Euro Rückzahlung erhalten. Dafür konnte ich mir dann locker die Fehlteile nachkaufen. Daher bleibt es bei den 5 Sternen, da Amazon hier sofort problemlos geholfen hatte. In meiner Wohnung habe ich Laminat verlegt. Ich empfehle als Unterlage für das Set unbedingt einen Teppich, da ansonsten insbesondere die Fußpedale wegrutschen. Mit einem 120 x 80 cm Teppich kann man das gesamte Set rutschfest aufstellen.

Es kam nur ein Teil an, die Hälfte fehlt! Jetzt Stress mit Rücksendung. Auf denn Bildern super, aber dann traurig!
