If you're skeptical, read this!
I'm rewriting this review weeks after my first use of SeaFoam. My first review was about the smoke, the car running smoother, etc, etc... The normal stuff. As of now, this product has done so much for both our cars... I see alot of debate online about its' effectiveness. People either love SeaFoam or consider it "snake oil". They also criticize saying the smoke is actually the product burning off, not carbon. To the smoke part, I say what difference does it make? We have two high-mileage cars. A 2009 Jeep LIberty with 143,000 miles and a 2013 Kia Forte with 94,000. The Jeep has had its' Check Engine light on for almost a year - P0430 code, "Cat Inefficiency, Bank 2." The timing chains and guides have been replaced along with the Thermal Intake Sensor (what Jeep calls the MASS Airflow Sensor), MAP Sensor, and EGR valve. The car has been through alot, running very rich for years as we worked out problems and I lived near the ocean for a long time so I began to accept the Catalytic Coverter was history from abuse and salt. I did run CatAClean through (not cheap), cleared the code repeatedly and the Check Engine light just came back on. I tried Techroline (and others), and SeaFoam in the gas tank, same thing. Two shops handed me $2,200 estimates for an entire Catalytic Converter Y-pipe because the second cat was sure to be next. I've also been told all along that the Jeep's motor looks all carboned up on a scope. I ran this product in the intake, did the whole hot soak and smoke thing, cleared the codes, and the Check Engine light has stayed off for weeks! It never stayed off for more than a day before; returning the moment the car got hot. No more P0430 code for the first time in almost a year and I've driving the hell out of it!!! I wasn't even trying this for this problem, I just wanted the idle to smooth out... this was an unintended consequence and is saving us $2,000 because had the light stayed on, I was going to have to replace the cats just to SMOG It. I couldn't even sell it if I wanted to. Now the KIA... we've had problems with the car pinging LOUD on hard acceleration. I hadn't tried much to remedy it but it was getting very bad. I figured I'd deal with it at the 100K tune up. But because of the experience with the Jeep, I ran this in the KIA's intake and let it hot soak for fifteen minutes - really out of curiosity. When we started it back up, there was no smoke - NONE. For miles nothing and it was still pinging! Then all of a sudden on the freeway accelerating, the car kind of paused for a second (which scared me a little) and suddenly started blowing blue smoke out the back - making it difficult to even see the car behind. It gradually recovered and the pinging was completely gone. It idles so quiet now I have to keep checking it is actually running. Just like everyone, I've wasted so much money on miracle cures hoping to luck out. It never happens. Honestly, I've run a lot of regular SeaFoam in the gas tank and it never seemed to do anything. (although I just ran it in the oil and yes it really helped). But this product is really great. Chrysler sells something identical (for $40 a can) and the guys at Valvoline said they have theirs too. It seems safe for the car as long as you keep it away from your MASS Airflow Sensor. I probably won't use it on the Kia again for a very long time but I'm going to incorporate this into my normal 30,000 mile tuneups on the Jeep. I think many of the people who consider this "snake oil" are people who had more serious issues the than product could help with, or never had any problems at all and expected there to be something spectacular. What I've seen are very real, tangible, quantifiable results and a major repair bill narrowly avoided.

Damn, does this work. 10/10
tldr; This stuff works. No more rough idle for my rx8. Be aware your car may smoke for more than anyone online tells you(I was told 10 minutes, and mine smoked for 3 days LMAO). And it will smoke HARD for AT LEAST 10 minutes. It will be hard to see. Do it outside with plenty of ventilation. Follow directions online for YOUR SPECIFIC MAKE AND MODEL! People will point out the smoke, "hey did you know your car is smoking?!" Yes. Yes I know. I daily a Mazda Rx8, the infamous "unreliable" rotary powered Japanese sports car. When I first got the car, it had power issues, and would frequently turn off in the middle of intersections. Took it to the shop, and surprisingly, there were no compression issues. The issue was a failed catalytic converter. Well, after replacing the cat, the thing ran like new. However, there were some rough idles occasionally. After a few hundred miles after the repairs, the idle got worse. I was told by a guy that used to race these things that a failed cat can cause back pressure that can then cause excess carbon buildup. He said to "seafoam it". Following the directions for my specific make and model, it took about 4 hours (only 20 minutes of prep) to let my car soak before starting it up again. Man, DID IT SMOKE!! The car had never been seafoam before, I doubt, so it continued to smoke even after 30 minutes of idling with me revving it to 6k about 20 times, and driving for 15 minutes, hard. I began to panick, however with some research and advice from seafoam themselves, a car may continue to smoke for days of driving, and not to panic. All in all, my car runs amazingly. It feels more responsive, it NEVER idles rough. Highly recommend.

Worked very well! Cleared my CEL...
One of my cars was throwing up a check engine light and the code said "System idle too lean, bank 1," I believe. I can't remember if that was the exact code or not because after using one can of this miracle stuff - IT HASN'T BEEN BACK!!! Car is an '07, and not a daily driver. I probably use it once a week at most. Don't think I've even put but maybe 1,000 miles on it since using this treatment (at most, probably half that.) I just passed the 85K mile mark on the odometer. I started the car, got it up to idle temperature, and then funneled the straw straight into the intake with the included guard that allowed me to clamp down the intake hose and still have it suck in filtered air through the intake filter. Hardest part was holding down that nozzle for the entire time it took to empty the can. A couple things to consider - point the car's exhaust away from your house. Trust me. And after you dump the whole can into the running engine (again, wait until it is at idle temperature,) go ahead and rev it a few times until your entire block is blanketed in smoke. Do this until the smoke stops coming out the fart pipes. This product was a cheap and really easy way to clean out many years of carbon deposits. I highly recommend it. You can find videos online of others that have used it and watch just how well it works.

It works!
I'm skeptical about putting "cleaners" in my engines. At the last oil change, the dealership told my wife they recommended a throttle body cleaning and they have her an estimate to do it. The only thing we get at the dealer is the oil changed because I can't even buy the oil for what they charge. I looked up throttle body cleaning to see what I had to do, and came across Sea Foam. At first I was like, yeah, for $10 I'll be able to get done what they would do at a shop or dealership. Then my wife told me they explained to her at the dealership what they do. It was the same process that was described in the instructions of the Sea Foam. So it sounded like it might be the same thing they do at the dealership, so I decided to give it a try. I was adding a cold air induction, so I had to take the intake apart anyway. I followed the instructions on the can. Had my wife help keep the throttle up at recommended RPMs while I sprayed the Sea Foam into the throttle body. Let it sit for 10 minutes in the "hot soak". Started it up and started driving, slowly at first, then took to the interstate. As I entered the on ramp and merged, I throttled down to join traffic. As I did so, a huge grey cloud shot out of the exhaust. This stuff works! Before using Sea Foam, throttle wasn't very responsive, gas mileage was declining, and now, after using the Sea Foam, throttle response in restored, I haven't had enough time to see an increase in mileage yet (I just did this last night). But I was so excited with how this worked, I had to write a review. Use this stuff, it works

Did before & after inspection of combustion chambers and this stuff definitely works.
I've admittedly been very skeptical of Seafoam, especially because of the "spectacular" white smoke - which really isn't the result of dirt burning off but rather caused by one of the chemicals in the product burning off. I'm also not a fan of most fuel system "cleaners" you're supposed to put in your tank and wouldn't recommend using Seafoam, B12 etc. in the tank for that purpose. What I've seen happen is that those can rather loosen dirt but then plug up the very fine mesh filters on your injectors. Generally Techron is pretty good but changing your fuel filter & getting the injectors properly rebuilt is really the way to go if you want to clean your fuel system. Can be had for as little as $11 or $12 a piece online with a before & after flow bench testing and report. So why did I buy this version of Seafoam? During pretty extensive 100K mile inspection & maintenance work on my BMW V8, I noticed carbon buildup in the cylinders closest to the crank case ventilation valve - which can introduce oily fumes back into the intake for improved emissions. After seeing the ChrisFix' video on YouTube about this particular version - (SS14 is introduced into the air intake) I decided to give it a try and having done a before & after inspection of my combustion chambers through the spark plug holes with a borescope I can confirm this stuff definitely works - actually a lot better than in Chris' video. The carbon buildup in my cylinders 3,4,7 & 8 was a lot heavier before but after, about 2/3 of the piston top were shiny & clean. I believe what makes this product work really well are the oils. I found oils in some cases to be a better detergent of carbon deposits in different applications than "cleaners" or gasoline. It seems to mix & bond well allowing for easy removal.

Scary but effective
I used it on my 2003 BMW 325 (with 100k miles on board) this weekend, to try to get rid of some rough idle issues. I followed the instructions to the letter; someone kept the RPM at 1500 while I used the spray for about 2 minutes. During this period, nothing happened, the engine behaved normally. Then, I left the cleaner do its job for 5 minutes. When I restarted the engine, it got really scary: a plume of grey smoke inundated the yard, and the engine was barely running. The Service Engine Soon" light was on. I drove it on some side streets for about 5 minutes (kept it in manual mode, to run it at high RPM, as instructed) and then drove it on the highway for about 10 minutes. Even before reaching the highway, the engine started running really smooth, and the "Service Engine Soon" light went off. While on the highway, I noticed how smooth the engine was running now, and I could feel more power under the hood (hard to quantify, but I would say about 10% better). The next day I noticed that, even when the engine was cold, the idle would be really smooth, barely feeling it in the steering wheel. Gas mileage went up (the instantaneous onboard indicator show around 35-40mgp @ 65mph - on cruise control). As a conclusion, I would say that it's a very effective treatment, but not for the faint of heart...

Amazing product!
I was skeptical about trying it but after all the great reviews I had to try it and boy Iโm glad I did. Got this because I had a po420 code on my 20 year old van. Itโs a beater and Iโm not trying to buy cats for it just to pass state inspection. Just like the youtube guys did I sprayed this into the o2 sensor hole. Wonโt get into the story about removing it but it was rough. Anyway sprayed the Seafoam in there and let it sit for a few hours. Half of it ended up on the driveway because of a rotted section of exhaust but whatever. Started it up and it smoked like crazy for about 15-20 minutes. Looked like them LA takeovers on my block lol. As soon as I drove it I could immediately notice a difference. Wasnโt the dog itโs been last few years. Iโve filled up with 2 tanks of gas so far and the light hasnโt come back on yet. This is even with half the can ending up on the driveway! My sonโs car now has the code so Iโll be doing this on his car next. Absolutely great product I tell everyone that has an old beater with the light on to try this. What do you got to loose?

Cleaned out many years of grime and poor servicing of my old V8.
Certainly did everything I hoped it would do, wished I'd kept my eye on the elbow piece to help with keeping the hose around the throttle body hose, it snapped while installation and I only got to use about two thirds of the product. It did however do what it is supposed to do, it cleared out so much build up in my recently purchased 16 year old land rover V8. The amount of smoke and foul smelling gasses that flowed out of the exhaust pipe was alarming. I had to find an unused corner of a factory car park to do the job as per instructions. The run on the local bypass caused alarm for many of the other drivers I'm sure, and for a few days afterwards it would smoke even after getting up to temperature. And the smell is quite awful so try not to have your heater blowers on when at a junction waiting in traffic. The immediate effects were a noticeable acceleration performance, the faster start on ignition, the noticeable holding of temperature without any peaks and troughs between idle and high load. I inspected the spark plugs before and after the treatment and the condition of the cylinder chambers were noticeably shinning more than before and by changing the sparks for new, the noticeable misfire it had before has gone. All in all, it has reduced the fumes, increased the performance of the spark and a believe, been part of a thorough service that has increased the efficiency of this old engine. I'm seeing an increase in fuel economy, a smoother ride, a lot less of a visible wobble at idle and after a combination of other essential jobs (oil, filters, MAF, sparks, belt, coolant and new exhaust / O2 sensors) it's feeling like a new car. I'd suggest using SeaFoam on an old engine that has limited or very poor history, but do it away from your neighbours. The results are awfully antisocial.
