Getting Started with Linux: Novell’s Guide to CompTIA’s Linux+ (Course 3060)

The book is in need of a update. The labs were horrible. On several labs I was guessing the correct procedures for my college course. Steps were missing in many labs. If you are depending on this book to pass your Linux certification, you will be disappointed. It is lacking in many areas.In regard to price of the book new, I believe it is overpriced. It is as though the product was rushed to market with errors and no reviewing of the material to ensure accuracy.Notwithstanding, the linux commands were useful.

So far i find this book helpful but a little tricky in part to understand. I would prefer they get the concept down in the first example for a command then add flags, etc. Overall, it has been a solid text to learn from, but if you haven't use Linux like me before, its a little challenging to follow in certain sections.

I love ordering from amazon. The books come fast and when expected. I perfer to order from amazon versus private sellers because amazon stands behind all your purchases. When you have a problem you never have to wait. Amazon handels all issues promptly. The only problem is that sometimes the books I order are come damaged due to the packaging. The books need to be shrink wrapped and packed with more padding. I did have to return this book for damage. But Amazon took care of the issue right away.

Ok why did I give 3 stars.Mainly It didnt come with the CDS, risk of buying used. That plus it just doesnt flow well within the book. Instead of teaching its more geared to getting you ready for the COMPTIA+ (Yeah I know it tells you that in the title).

Good book. Used for Linux+ Certification training class. A little dated now with SUSE Linux, good book and exercises in prep for CompTIA Linux + certification.

This book is good for someone with existing experience in UNIX. I would not buy this book if I was entirely new to UNIX since the author make assumptions that you already know about certain concepts.

This product was more than I expected. The book was in mint condition and the price was absolutely awesome. My friends could not believe that was how much i paid. Thank you very much. I love it
