This is a very good product that I'd recommend to anyone wanting to video ...
This is a very good product that I'd recommend to anyone wanting to video monitor whatever. Before I go into the benefits you should know a few things. The CD that comes with the kit has a PDF file with the instruction for use. However, the main screen that comes up when you use the CD will NOT take you to the correct web site to download the program to hook up the monitor to your computer.I called Jasco Products tech support and the technician emailed me a link to download that program. That link no longer works.I spoke with Jasco tech support today and they are working on the web site to correct the problems. So be patient. The program to use a PC does work, but has some bugs that I hope are soon corrected. The "Pan" function only works when you're in the "Zoom X-2" mode. Then you can use the direction buttons on the monitor to pan left, right, up and down.I wanted to be able to record videos for security purposes, so I ordered the Kingston Digital 16 GB Class 4 microSDHC Flash Card with SD Adapter (SDC4/16GBET) to record videos. That works great. Also I had to order the Transcend Information USB 3.0 Card Reader (TS-RDF5K) to transfer the videos to my PC in the event that I needed to give a copy of a video to the police. The reader works great, too.The videos are in AVI format.By the way, the camera is not water proof. I mounted mine on a porch that is covered with a roof.If you plan on mounting the camera outside where the rain and snow will fall it it, I recommend making some sort of a protective enclosure to keep out the water allowing the camera to safely point out to where you want it.It's was great being able to take the monitor off of the charging stand and carry it with me when I set up the camera outside and when I'm not able to answer the door I can see and talk to whomever is at my door.So if you're thinking of getting this kit, do so and you should be pleased with it.

Very Pleased So Far
I bought this and an extra camera as a baby monitor. I have a 3 year old, 1 year old, and a baby due any minute now. I had previously paid over $100 for a similar store brand monitor with only one camera that was marketed as a baby monitor. I had to buy a specific battery for the monitor that was never in stock, so it was rendered useless when my bored Min Pin decided the power cord was a good chew toy.Recently I realized that not only would it be really nice to have another video monitor (quiet is never a good thing with toddlers therefore sound only is useless to me) but I'd probably need two cameras. The ones with two cameras that are sold as baby monitors are well over $200 from what I've seen. Also, they seemingly have less features than this system.I like the motion activation feature. If I'm busy with the baby, I can position a camera near a "danger zone" if I don't necessarily need it on continuously. Like when my one year old tries to sneak off to the bathroom to play in the toilet. The intercom feature is nice, as well. "This is your mother speaking," sounding like a Starfleet captain, right? Anyway, geeky opportunities aside, also very helpful when they think they can swing from the chandelier because you stepped out of the room to tend to the baby.I probably won't use the lullaby feature, those never worked with the older two on previous monitors... but I'll still try it!Overall, I'm very pleased so far. The price was the main thing that had me sold along with the positive reviews for it being used as a baby monitor. The true test will be when the baby comes, but I think it's going to work out great.

Best Security Cam for the Money
The system works well and does what it says. Set-up was plug and play easy. It does have some limitations though. The camera is infra-red sensitive, like most digital cameras, and comes with IR LEDs built in. They are only for short range, though, (15-20') and can't be turned off. This means that if you want the camera to view outside, then you will have to mount it outside rather than looking through a window. The IR LEDs will just glare on the glass at night. The microphone mounted in the camera is -very- sensitive. Almost too sensitive. This is not adjustable. Other than these minor faults the camera works well. It comes with hardware for mounting outside or on a wall. It is stable enough to sit on a table or shelf. The camera will run on the included power adapter or on AA batteries. The portable monitor is very neat. It has a sharp picture, good features, is easy to operate and carry around. It will run on it's internal battery for up to four hours of continuous use when off it's charging cradle. It can be charged off it's cradle if you have the right adapter, which is a pretty common one. Range has not been an issue with me despite wireless routers and cell phones in close proximity to the monitor. Picture clarity and reception are excellent. Add an HD Micro SD card up to 32Gb (not included) and it will record for days before overwriting older recordings. The manual that comes with the system is complete and concise. A cdrom of DVR software and USB drivers is included. Software key was printed on the cd.The only downside is the included DVR Software doesn't really do anything the monitor itself doesn't do. The software doesn't let you view recordings on the monitor's SD card for instance, only the recordings the software has made. So there really isn't much use for it unless you just want your cameras on a bigger screen. When plugged into your computer's USB port, the monitor becomes simply a pass-through for the camera. Recordings made on the monitor have to be viewed on the monitor, or, the MicroSD card can be removed and plugged in to your computer if you have an adapter.Overall I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend it for budget conscious buyers.
