This is the definitive textual commentary of the New Testament. One must study the introduction and the list of abbreviations in order to follow the notes, which are very concise. But it's an indispensable tool for those wanting to understand textual variants among New Testament manuscripts.

Having UBS5 or NA28 gives the conclusions of the textual committee that decided on the precise reading for each passage of the Greek New Testament. These books also give some of the evidence. However, this book by Metzger, A Textual Commentary of the NT give the reasoning on each of these variant passages in UBS4 and a few others as well. It also provides a series of textual introductions to the major portions of the NT particularly the book of Acts. This is a mine of textual information - the comments about some passages go for pages.Highly recommended for anyone wanting a better understanding of the origin of the NT text

Excellent resource to better understand the textual variations in the New Testament.

I've wanted this resource for over 20 years and finally purchased it. Sometimes it's better to have a hard copy lying around to quickly inform me on a simple idea.

Metzger's Textual Commentary is an essential read for all interested in Biblical Studies. He clearly and concisely (though in academically dense language) articulates major textual issues in this small volume. He introduces the scholarly conversation that surrounds New Testament passages within the Text Critical world.

I'd been wanting this book for quite some time; when it comes to familiarity with the text of the New Testament, you can't beat Metzger. This book does not disappoint. As far as I can tell, just about any textual issue the average Bible reader would be interested in is covered in this amazing little book. There is an awful lot of information packed into this small tome.

I recommend this product for the lovers of New Testament , particulary those who enjoy textual critic, this is a basic work for study the textual of New Testament, even all these years, this work until now, was not repleaceable.

Looks interesting only came yesterday

It was in pristine condition at just over half the retail price. It might all my expectations and has improved my understanding of the New Testament.
