Something new
This is actually a very good putter, especially on putts within 10-12 ft. You have to use as they tell you to though. Wrist swing only! Once you get the speed down, it's pretty deadly inside 8 ft.

Not USGA legal
No where in written materials does it state that as sold it does not meet USGA standards. In short illegal. No optional kit is available to modify. To me this is deceptive advertising and my stupidity for not checking first!

I've modified my Hammer putter to make it conform to USGA rules and I believe my modified Hammer putter is the best putter I've ever used
The theory behind the Hammer putter is sound. It is definitely easier to make a putting stroke in one plane with this putter. However, there are a couple of important aspects of this putter that you need to know. 1. It does NOT conform to USGA rules for putters. The USGA rules for putters require that the heel-toe distance be greater than the face-back on a putter head. This putter does not conform to this rule. 2. Since the shaft is back about an inch from the face, you have to position the ball a little more forward during your putting set-up so you don't push the ball down at impact. You want a parallel or slightly upward head path at impact. I've modified my Hammer putter to make it conform to USGA rules and I believe my modified Hammer putter is the best putter I've ever used. Every putt feels like it's been hit in the sweet spot.

A good putter
I been using the hammer putter on and off for about 3 years. It did take some getting use to because of the small face. On regular putters I had a hard time hitting in the center of the face or sweet spot. Because of the small face it helped my concentration which helped me make more putts. I did go back to my regular putter for about 3 months. I was doing OK with it but I missed the sweet spot feel you get with the hammer putter. I'm made fun of by my 30 something son but then I can putt rings around him. The only problem is the really long putts which I carry a regular putter. No issue.

Amazing!!! It works.
Absolutely amazing. I got the putter and headed to the golf course to try it out. Practice green of course. Some of my golf buddies showed up and immediately started making fun of me. Couldn't believe bought the Hammer X putter. They were quickly quieted after I drained 8 putts from 10 feet, in a row!Once I got the concept down, and used to the pendulum swing, things got easy. I never used to draw a line on my ball, but now I do. This helps with the alignment. Once aligned correctly, its as easy as can be because it aligns itself. You will not be disappointed. The roll is true, and easy to use.

Bad design, crazy concept.
Beware of this idiotic tool. To use it the instructions want you to "forget everything you know about putting." You are to use wrist action only. Really? For long putts, it's impossible to find the proper lag. Save your money and duct tape a stick to your carpenter's hammer - it's cheaper and will be just as crazy an idea as this foolish looking putter. Ask yourself this - is there any golfer on the PGA tour using this? Keep looking.....

not for golf
Use it for hammering in baseboard nails or other carpentry jobs. Other than that it is not for real golf. It's a novelty.
