Bigjigs Toys First Hammer Bench

I wondered how the pegs would stay tight in this bench. Upon arrival I see that each hole has a bit of a plastic liner to keep the tension! Clever~

I'd say this product barely rates a 3 - for the money it is very light weight and of inexpensive materials. Rather than being tapered and permanently installed, the pegs are secured only by a plastic ring in the middle. They are easily pulled out (and subsequently might get lost). My recollection of a good version of this product (albeit from the age when quality mattered) was one of harder and heavier materials, and one where you hammered the pegs down until they stuck, then turned it over and repeated. Someone is making a nice profit on each unit sold!My daughter and daughter-in-law (I bought 2 of these) reported that the hammer is so light that it requires a lot of speed/force from a little child to do the hammering. I may have to make proper, heavier mallets myself. Almost wish I'd made the sets from scratch.

Just as described, sturdy and colorful!

I got this a few months ago and my now 1 year old baby is still loving it. I wanted to get a good idea of how much he played with it and if it held up well which is mostly has. My only complaint is the top layer of the wood is softer than the rest, so when your little one misses the pegs, it will dent the top. Doesn’t really matter, but it would be nice if it looked nicer longer. I’m happy I got it for him, he liked to push the pegs down with one finger or his whole hand if he doesn’t feel like using the hammer lol I think it’s a good toy and a good price for the quality.

perfect toy for toddlers!

My little boy loves bashing things, so I knew he'd love this. He loves the colours. He's only 9 months, so hasn't quite worked it out on his own yet, but he loves it when I help him to play. Much more sturdy made of wood than plastic. The hammer had taken some chewing from our dog but is so sturdy, it only has teeth marks in it.

Jouet de qualité, qui plaît bien à ma fille de 15 mois. Seul problème, les cylindres de couleurs sont très très difficiles à enfoncer avec le marteau pour un bébé de cet age. Même nous les adultes avons été surpris de devoir mettre autant de force pour enfoncer les cylindres.
