Grindhouse: The Sleaze-filled Saga of an Exploitation Double Feature

This is a pretty sweet book for anyone who liked or is interested the unusual "Grindhouse" exhibition collaboration between Tarantino and Rodriguez. However, my personal favorite of the two films is beyond a doubt Tarantino's "Death Proof," and more than twice as many pages are devoted to Rodriguez's "Planet Terror." This is due to the fact that the book includes both the screenplay for this film and a unit about the making of this film. However, "Death Proof" is only given the unit about the making of that film and does not include Tarantino's screenplay. Still, the book is still well worth owning for fans of either film.

This type of materiel is not for everyone. Die hard movie fans this is a must have for your collection.. "Grindhouse", an experiment by legendary directors Robert(Desperado,Sin City) Rodriguez,and Oscar winning writer Quintein(Pulp Fiction,Kill Bill Vol's I and II)Tarentino,to re-create to films that they grew up with in the 70's... The book is a historical document about the creation of said film, delving into everything from financing to creation to filming of the two parts(Rodriguez's "Planet Terror" and Tarentino's "DeathProof").. Film buffs alike will laugh and wonder how these movies got made by an industry who's only aim of late is a guaranteed"BLOCKBUSTER"(and rehash) with the word Transformer or spider man in it..Thankfully The Weinstein Company, saw the foresight to let this film be made.. if you liked the movie then this book ISNT for you.. This a FAN"S book,who loved the movie and who cant wait for "Machete" to be released(coming spring of 2010)

Awesome book for fans of these films! Chock full of set photos, behind the scenes, poster artwork including international, concept art, and even the complete screenplay for Planet Terror and so much more! Definitely delivers everything you could ask for and beyond. As a major fan of this Rodriguez/Tarantino collaboration i have had hours upon hours of fun flipping through this huge entertaining book.

This is a beautiful hardcover book, and just like the movies, it's dotted with fake ageing - corners look torn and creased, but the printing is still perfect and stunningThere is a LOT of really interesting info in here - from the Planet Terror screenplay, to interviews with a lot of special effects guys, detailing many of the stunts and crashes, and how they were performed and filmed. There are also tons of images taken from the film and the development.Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino talk a lot about their inspirations and thought processes behind the madcap action too.If you're a fan of the movies, you will LOVE this book. Highly recommended.

This book is an excellent companion piece to the two movies that were part of the in theater double feature collectively known as Grindhouse.The book treats us to plenty of pictures of not just the lovely ladies, of which there are many, but of everything from the movie. Included is the script for Planet Terror along with plenty of commentary about the filmaking process and the support network of both Robert and Quentin.Unlike other film related books this one is not a fluff piece, there is a lot of material between the covers and this book is definately worth reading more than once.

This book covers all you need to know about Planet Terror and Death Proof, and most of the "fake" trailers. It includes the screen play to Planet Terror and the Machete Trailer along with the Thanksgiving Trailer (sadly no script for Death Proof though...).I gave it a 5 star rating because when you read it, you can feel the amount of energy they feel, and it makes me want to make a Grindhouse movie.

This film is a time capsule; anybody who grew up in the midwest and went to the drive in to see these types of movies must see this one. My favorite Rodriguez/Tarantino movie.

Nice book for the movies' fans, great images and interviews along with the Planet Terror shooting script.

habe von beiden filmen die collecter's edition und das buch ist eine optimale ergänzung dazu. viele fotos, alle passend in szene gesetzt. schön fürs auge! auch die background infos sind sehr schön bebildert. allein der punkt, dass die beiden filme nochmals via dialog-szenen durchgegangen werden, finde ich etwas unnütz. wenn man nur die highlight-szenen aus den filmen genommen hätte, wäre es besser gewesen. das buch kaufen sich wohl ausschließlich fands der beiden grindhouse filme und die wissen, worum es in den filmen geht und haben diese auch wohl mindestens mehr als einmal gesehen. Aber wie gesagt, das buch ist super gemacht! Haufen biler und hintergrund-infos! für einen fan der beiden filme ein muss - wenn man die visuellen eindrücke der filme nicht nur auf film/video/dvd/blu-ray haben möchte!

Schade das das Buch nicht in deutscher Sprache veröffentlicht wurde.
