Decent, but very audible. *update* Now Great!
Since writing the original review I was contacted by the seller Alitove and informed the unit I had my have a firmware issue causing it to become noisy, they sent me an updated unit that is absolutely silent. No more audible hum! So I’ve updated the rating accordingly. 1 extra Star for silence, and 1 for great customer service. On a side note, the green and black female dc jack is holding up well. Even at a full 8a, With no warmth.-original review-Works as designed but makes an audible noise under even a small load, just gets louder when drawing full 8 amps. Worried the female head it cane with will eventually give out as the green and black plastic heads are usually only rated for 5a will update if it does.

Keep it COOL, save the unit.
I bought 2, 12V 8 amp power supplies. Shipping time was reasonable. When I took them out of the box, I measured the voltage output, one is 12.3vdc the other is 12.5vdc no load. Putting a load of 2 amps the voltage dropped to 12.1vdc and 12.3vdc. The units stayed 3 degrees above ambient. At only 1/4 the rated load I expect better regulation. At 4 amps the unit draws down to 11.8vdc and 11.95vdc. The voltage is barely in spec of advertised. A regulated voltage should stay stable at set point at rated amp draw. If you use any of these small power supply units never go over 60% of rated with electronics and only 33% with induction devices. If the unit gets hot, heat will kill the electronics in the power supply, lower the load or use a heat sink to lower the temperature to save the life of a power supply.

10 to 12 Amp gets you from $20 to $30 price but when you need the overhead . . .
Running two 5 amp fans. Needed a little breathing room. Had to pay for it but is working well after 1 week.

Worked for 60 days, then crapped out
What a disappointment. Worked really well for 60 days then failed and I'm out of the return window. I never pulled more than 50% of rated current and it appears that the voltage regulator circuit failed. It turns on, but only puts out 0.3V at about 100mA. It was only used intermittently so it is not a overheat scenario. In fact, I de-powered it for 24 hours and then tried again thinking they may have a thermistor cut-off as a safety feature - but that wasn't an issue. This junk is going to the electronics recycler and I'm moving on to a solid Acopian power brick. Uggh. How frustrating. Save your money and look elsewhere.
