Croydex AP530841 Grab-n-Grip Contemporary Design Heavy Duty Steel Core Soft Ribbed Grip Straight Grab Bar, 890mm, Chrome

This was the longest grab rail I could find which also had a non slip grip. Just what I need and it looks good too.

We wanted a grab rail that would be safe but look good in our rather smart bathroom. My mother has had a series of falls and panics so this looked like a perfect compromise. It comprises of a chrome finish grab rail that could easily be a towel rail at first glance, it has grey rubber strips every few inches so if grabbed in a hurry with wet hands your hands cannot slide along it. If you put a towel on it, it doesn't slide off either. When it comes to fixing it goes up with screws rather than bolts which means to make it safe you have to use long screws with good quality wall plugs onto a solid wall. We used 100 mm 8mm ' s from Screw fix. They do a fixing designed to fix battens to solid walls so if you aren't an expert I would suggest a visit to a good shop with advice available as the normal inch or inch and a half screws in a cheap wall plug can easily pull out if used regularly or in an emergency. Mother and the OT ' s are pleased with this handrail and I'm pleased it looks smart in the bathroom.

Pam wrote to say don,t buy 89 cm length grab bar with three fixing points if you have uneven walls.Don,t know if intentional or not (Instructions don,t mention it ) but on my 3 point bar the center fixing unscrewed to allow for uneven wall.GREAT product.Nearly did not buy because of that one bad review.
