A new way to look at the world!
Purchased for a 6yo, home-schooled 1st grader as part of his science curriculum. Appreciate that the Microscope came with bright colored, easy-to-read instructions and tips that the kiddo was able to read and help with set up. The cards are thick and coated; they won't rip or fall apart.REALLY appreciate the Microscope Basics card; it's been a long time since I have used a microscope (like, HS!) We were able to start our exploration immediately. Also comes with 4 cards of suggestions like looking at hair, fur, plants, etc. All things you can easily collect and not have to pay for.I researched about a dozen different microscopes intended for kids and opted for this one for several reasons:1. additional items that it comes with (dust cover, batteries, optional wall plug, a few slides, and enough other items that we were able to start using it right out of the box - literally)2. price3. size / weight (he can manage it - not too heavy but at same time feels very solid built)4. positive reviews of both the microscope and the sellerI did purchase some additional preset slides but we haven't really used those much. He prefers taking samples of things from the yard - never knew so many teeny tiny things lived in our bird bath water! We know now :) Eewww. So if you're considering buying, you can probably hold off on buying additional slides as the kiddo will get a lot of use with just this set.Seller has been great to work with. They sent me a follow-up email afterwards to make sure everything was good with the microscope. I imagine if we encounter any issues that they will be good to work with. Will update review if anything changes.Highly recommend.

Great microscope for the price
We saw this microscope being used by a park naturalist and were impressed, so we bought our own. Easy to use. Comes with glass slides, tweezers. A good start for kids or adults.

A Scientific Tool for a Toy's Price
This is a great little microscope for budding young scientists! It is sturdy, nicely weighted so it doesn't slide around, easy to adjust. The images are exceedingly crisp. Setting the microscope up was either a little tricky placing the lens in the stem, or the "installers" were a little confused:) Ultimately everything ended up in the right place. In retrospect, we probably should have let our little 8 year old scientist assemble it! Beyond the sturdiness of the scope, what is particularly nice is that it has three magnification Levels - 40x, 100x, 400x, and dual lights. After researching microscopes for days I came to understand that many in the same price range have single magnification and/or one light source if any. It comes with 5 prepared slides which really jumpstarted her curiosity. She has been using the blank slides to examine various specimens she finds around the house. The stains, test tube, forceps, lens papers, etc. really complete the set. The enclosed book is very comprehensive! She has not used it much yet, but it's a great resource for later explorations. Many reviewers have commented that a case would have been nice, and would have been. However, a dust cover is provided, and truthfully our scientist prefers to have it out at her disposal at all times because she is always finding something she needs to examine. This microscope can easily carry her through to high school I believe.

Great for beginners
We were pretty happy with this microscope for my 5 year old who loves to explore nature. The magnification works well, though it would be awesome if there were a bit more working distance for larger objects. Though it is marketed to work as both a compound and stereo/dissecting scope, the stereoscope side isn't quite as versatile. You can still use it to look at smaller things in a dish, but it is pretty difficult to look at say an insect or leaf. I was overall pretty happy with this microscope for the money. I am a biology professor who studies small animals, so I knew it would have a lot to live up to to meet standards in a research lab. And while it is definitely not 'research quality" it will get your kid (or inner kid) started.

Engages grandson and great service from company
We purchased this in March 2019 for our grandson (9 years old) for a Christmas present. We did not open the package except to check that everything was in there. When I spoke to our grandson after Christmas he told us that he liked the microscope very much but one of the batteries had rotted and he had to use the cord for light. It seems that the microscope was shipped with the batteries in the base and over time they had corroded. It was way past the warranty period so when I contacted the company all I was hoping for was some advice about changing the spring which held the battery in place (which the battery had leaked onto). The support person to whom I spoke was super helpful. He located a whole new base at a very reasonable price. He then checked for the least expensive way to ship it to Canada. All in all, my grandson is enjoying the microscope and the service from the company was excellent. I highly recommend the product and the service.

Excellent Microscope!
This is the second microscope I have purchased for my grandchildren. As a veteran Biology teacher, I can't tell you how impressed I am with this scope. I have microscopes in my classroom costing 8 times what this scope costs and the quality of this JuniorScope is amazing and honestly superior to the "more sophisticated" scopes in my classroom. The prepared slides that are included are also of excellent quality. The scope is easy to use and focus for young scientists and the ability to make their own slides and look at the things they find in their yards and homes is great. I am also impressed with the ease of focus. You truly can't go wrong with this microscope for your young scientists.
